Buying a new TV: any promotions in Chiang Mai at the moment?

I'm looking to buy a 50" flat screen, has anyone seen any good promotions in CM at the moment? I have heard of "Buy one get one (21" or 32") free" before which is what I'm looking for...... anyone any info?
    Cheers.

Thanks HB: you're right, some nice prices. Good site to browse with a wish list!

Have a good look at Thai tv before you spend the money, I just gave my big screen to a thai friend, it had not even been turned on in over a year.

^ True sucks, at 2100 Baht a month and if you want the History and Discovery Channels you have to buy the silly sports channels to get them.

The final straw was when I watched Schindler's List and they blurred it out every time Schindler lit a cigarette. Shooting people in the head was OK, but lighting a cigarette was a definite no no.

Besides most of the movies these days are mindless silliness or terrorist propaganda films to get morons to join the military.

^I've had a 62" TV for three years and have never turned on the TV. But, I watch tons of DVD movies on it. I agree with your assessment of much of the crap currently in movieland, but there are still all the great old classics, plus occasionally a good new one - and a lot of great foreign movies, many, if not most, with pretty good subtitles.

Bought a 51" Samsung plasma for 20k or thereabouts, well happy with that, particularly because of the improvements in plasma over the last few years, especially on larger screen TV's.
Got True Gold for approx 1500 a month...... about 8 movie channels, Nat Geo, Discovery, History, Haminal Planet, BBC World News and loads of sport....... job done!

Got rid off true a couple of years ago and never looked back.

Adverts, repeats, adverts and more repeats. Dumbed down natgeo and history channels.

They insult their customers with the mindless garbage they pump out.

Now I choose the programmes, mostly bbc history, nature, documentaries and uk and us series and comedy and download from the net onto one of those hard disk gizmos that play back through the tv.

2000+ per month for true, theres another sucker born every minute.

Quite agree with you if you're paying that much for it!
1500 or so for True Gold (contract less than 4 weeks old) with the afore mentioned channels to keep me more than occupied for a few hours an evening, and loads of Thai channels to keep the missus happy when I'm not about! No whinging from this corner!

Each to their own suppose, the only thing I miss is the soccer, but I can catch the big games at a pub or restaurant.
