    Working in Lopburi

    Hi,

First of all sorry for my English, I am not a native speaker and my German and Thai is better than English.

I got a offer to work in Lopburi - Muang Lopburi to run a Factory there and also need to life somewhere near Factory (10-20km shut be ok), can someone help me with a few addresses of good Apartments or houses, for first 12 month I want to rent something, if possible fully furnished and a bit farang style, of corse for a Thai price..
Please let me know whats average prices, I got cheated quit a few times in Thailand on Rent price, dont want to make that mistake again.

Also I interested in good Farang Food Resterants, Pubs or Bars to hang out after work, please let me know if you know some nice spots. Any Girli Bars arround? Or where are next Farang style Nioghtlife places?

Shoping with Big C and Tescos shut be ok, I dont think it gives a Foodland somewhere near, next will be in BKK or does Ayutthaya have some?

Any of you guys life in Lopburi as well?

I based in Thailand since 12 years, speaking fluent Thai and normaly I handle living quit well, but Lopburi is total new for me, even on internet not much to find about it.

Thanks for your help, shot me a PM if you go to Lopburi so we can go out for a Beer or two........

    Cheers,

    GoodMyFarang (stupid name, I know...)

Lopburi is a bit 'quiet', bus has a couple of nice bar/restaurants to hang out in near the evening market.

Ayutthaya certainly has more, but it still has 'not much' - no Foodland nearby. Bangkok is the closest.

Girlie Bars? There may be a few Thai style places, but none catering for foreigners that I know of. There is a street of 2 in Ayutthaya, but it's pretty grim.

Lopburi doesn't have much nightlife. It's your basic Army town. A few karaoke bars catering the Army guys. Can be fun if your Thai is fairly good. Has a Tesco Lotus and a few good restaurants.

More like 5 to 10k in Lopburi, unless they are charging you their 'special' price.

I have a 'sister- in law' in Lopburi. I seem to remember there were a couple of very good sea food places, no idea about restaurants catering to foreigners.

There is at least one Big C.

Since the army is there, it'll have cheap flop houses, I'm pretty sure of that even if I didn't see them.

Please do keep us informed as I will be visiting Lopburi in late October and would like to know about any girlie bars, places to eat, hotels etc (quality & price etc) I am coming to meet some Thai friends who live in Saraburi but for personal safety reasons I will be going to Lopburi so I may need some daytime diversions apart from the monkeys.

Any info you can give would be great, and good luck with the new job.

I have read the Lopburi threads but they are all quite old so some updated info would be nice, thanks

No Foodland in Ayutthaya. Just Big C, Lotus and the local Amporn and Ampomall.

Ok, some update, Lopburi actualy not a bad city, for shoping with big C, Tescos, Carefour and Makro we have everything is needed, and the good news all of them in 5 min driving distance, so even more convinience than BKK or Pattaya, only Foodland is missing but thats enough every 2-3 weeks for some special German items.........

Living is quit cheap herew, compare to BKK its about half, going out to Bars is fine also, and Girls not that spoiled yet than in Pattaya, with Q-Bar, The Bank and Tarwadeng I found three nice spots now, some more will follow and I will update.....

Also some steak house here, Luise Steak but It was not that good as written in some old posts, its ok, but for that price 450THB for a Steak quit expensive, will explore some more places and update here......also Pizza Hut, KFC, Cheester Grill and this things are here, didnt find a Mc Donald yet and was quit surprised........

If some1 come to Lupburi, jsut send me a private Message, and we can meet up for a beer or two............

To BEDTIME, be carefull with that Girli from Saraburi, her story sounds like a real story and most likly not much is true on it......, can get danger and 40 km distance will not help you much if he realy find out that you fuck her, was in a similar situation and did fear for my live for a few month, now Problem is solved but I always remember it, Thais can be unbelivable agressive if it come down to Family or Face losing things......be carefull my friend........

    Cheers from Lopburi

    GoodMyFarang,

    Danke schon fruend,

Trust me I will be be very very careful, I have seen photo's of the boyfriend and he is a big bastard, not one to be argued with. My visit is mainly to say hi to my friend if I can her kit off then that's a bonus,
and meet another girl that is a friend of hers and wants to meet up.

I will look forward to having a beer or 2 with you in october, I don't get to BKK until 1805hrs on 29th Oct and I am wondering if it's worth staying in BKK that night and getting the VIP bus the following morning or to travel directly to Lopburi ? I know it's not too far from BKK.

An update onthe local hotels would be gratefully received if you could manage it, do any of them have Wi Fi ?

Thanks in advance, hope to see you in October

    PS: Guten nacht und danke

Well angkok is allways worth a night...

I was first 7 nights in a small Hotel call Lopuri Inn Resort, it was quit ok, small Bungalows with about 50m2, its not a 5 Star place but it was clean and Save, also nice is that you dont have to Pass Reception and can Park Car direct infront of that Bungalow.

Price was about 700-800 THB incl ABF (ABF is not that good) so better book without.

Shut me a Email when you arrive and ur phone Number, we can hang out for a night or two if you arrive here, maybe you Friend has more friends who wanna meet Farangs...

A sister hotel to the one mentioned above is called Lopburi Inn and is right in the centre of town. Much more convenient if you don't have a car.
They have their own micro-brewery there and make something called 'Monkey Beer'...certainly worth tasting and fitting seeing monkeys are ubiquitous around Lopburi.

Beer is fine. Hotel pretty bad. Not near as good as the often confused Lopburi Inn Resort.

You have to think of people's mobility. If you have a car then the resort is fine, but bloody inconvenient if your on foot!
We stayed in their suite for 900 baht.t'was fine.

Well rent a motorcycle for 200THB a day, its only about 5km from lets call it town town Lopburi, and actualy better places anyway around that Lopburi in Resort as in the City, unless u hunting for Monekys and wanna visit 20 of Tempels.........But I wi9ll test out this Monkey Beer, seen that Cars driving arround everywhere in Lopburi, was in that English Steak House (Noi and Barry or so) attached to Lopburi Inn Hotel, but it was actualy not even a bit good, seams that the Farang has left and now its a 100% Thai Management, so half of Menu was just not available and the Waitress there was more than unpolite, maybe it was just the wrong day but I wont go back there....T-Bone Steak was not to bad, but with all that suraounding its just a waste of time and money.........

Checking out some small shops this weekend, some locals told me that it give good Farang Food there.................
