The forest, which will declare to be Khao Kho National Park, used to be Namtok Than Thipl Forest Park. It was established on May 1, 1995 with about 14 sq.km in the border of Pa Khao Plok Lon National Reserved Forest. From consider of Director of Natural Resources Conservation Office on February 15, 2000 (a seminar that meeting of the head of Forest park) assigned the head of forest park to survey around the area by Mr. Cholathron Chamnankit a forest technicial officer, National Park Division is a primary data surveyor.
On August 16, 2001 National Park Division ,the Royal Forest Department assigned Mr.Phachoenchok Senakan a forestry administration officer, to survey a condition and control the area in which Department of Public Welfare had deliver back including 3 places : Pa Khao Plok Lon, Pa Khao Pang Ko and Pa Wang Chomphu National Reserved Forests which is the original resources of 2 watersheds: Pa Sak and Yom-Nan in the local of. Lom Kao, Lom Sak, Mueang, and Khao Kho districts, Phetchabun province. For designate to Khao Kho National park.
Khao Kho National park has high bio-diversity, species and wildlife, beautiful natural tourism places such as the waterfall, caves, isles, islet, cliffs, scenery viewpoint and historical fighting monument encountered between the government and the communist terrorists, which had taken along time before tranquilized. At present has a memorial construction for the heroes who passed away in that war, especially the village’s name, the bridge’s name used first name and last name of the heroes. The beautiful palace made for His majesty the King and Her majesty the Queen in the occasion were be in residence at Khao Kho, Phetchabun.
Geographical Features
The north-south long stretch mountain(the west side of Phetchabun Province) is the sources of many streams which is on the east side tributary to Yom-Nan Watershed (the main 2 in 25 watersheds in Thailand). General condition of Khao Kho looks like the beautiful atmosphere of Switzerland and the sea on the mountain with pleasant chilly all year long.
Varieties of Plants and Wild Animals
Forest resources of Khao Kho National Park comprises with natural forest and forestation (more than 50 % is forestation of the area) composed mixed deciduous forest, dry dipterocarp forest, tropical evergreen forest and granssland. Economy trees such as Dipterocarpus spp., Tectona grandis, Pterocarpus macrocarpus, Afzelia xylocarpa, Shorea obtusa, S. siamensis, Hopea odorata, Pinus sp., Quercus spp., herbs and orchids.
This forest is a sanctuary, food source, shelter for wildlife such as Indian elephant, Asian golden cat, wild boar, mouse deer, langur, common slow loris, civet, porcupine, Siamese hare, clouded monitor, Red junglefowl, and various species snake. Moreover found various of bird more than 100 species and diversity of butterfly.

By CarKhao Kho National Park is in the office of Namtok Than Thip Forest Park, 32 kms away from the city of Mueang Phetchabun. Beside travel by personnel car, also travel by first class bus and by the plane, which has just 9 kms far from the commercial airport.
