    Moving to Wang Noi

    Dear Forum,

    How are you?

I expect to be moving to the Ayutthaya/Wang Noi area early next year.

Any suggestions about finding places to rent and how much?

    Hope you are keeping well,

    All the Best,

    Bill Z

Not much in Wang Noi. Ayuthaya city would be much nicer.

I would prefer somewhere quieter rather than living Ayutthaya City, is that possible?

    Hope you are keeping well,

One of my Thai daughters in law lives in Ayutthaya.
They do have problems with flooding there. But I suppose thats only in the cheaper Thai areas. Keep to the high ground might be safest.

    Wang Noi is DEAD.

Ayutthaya is OK, but the locals take being brain-dead and ignorant to a whole new level even for Thailand.

Wang Noi is full of cheap apartments for the workers in industrial estates. Dont knock Ayudhaya itself. Some great places on the river up there.

    It floods everywhere in Thailand.

    Dear Aging One,

    Thanks for the advice.

The thought of living on or near the river is appealing but at the same time I don't like the idea of being in the hussle and bussle of a city. Are there quieter places on the river near the city - but quiet?

    Hope you are keeping well,

    All the Best,

    Bill Z

    Dear Marmite,

Good spot. No I haven't visited Ayutthaya, Wang Noi or the area in general at all. I don't plan to move until next year and my first visit will be at the end of this month.

I hope your comment means that you think Ayutthaya is quiet!!

    Hope you are keeping well,

    All the Best,

    Bill Z

    Dear Forum,

Things have partly worked out. I discovered that where I wanted to work was near Bangpa-In, and that Ayutthaya was huge although the park and the wats were nice. But Ayutthaya was far from where I wanted, and luckily when I got to Bangpa-In I found that it was close to the work. Thanks to help from Teakdoor member I have found a house to rent if the job pans out.

    Hope you are keeping well,

    All the Best,

    BillZ

Yeah, after visiting Marmite felt so at home he even bought a house there! Ayutthaya is best avoided; better to go to more farang friendly cities like Korat or Udon.

There was a poster a few weeks back that did this too, he disappeared quickly, dunno why.

If you are not the same poster, and are not a troll trying to amuse yourself, then may I extend a friendly request to cease writing formal memos that have the same effect as nails scratching glass, for everybody's sanity? This is a forum, figure out how forums work.

Lotsa love and hugs and kisses

    Rented, not bought.

The foreign guys there are cool, but I still can't believe how dumb most of the locals were.

Ayutthaya is alright, there are many places to eat.

Wang Noi is industrial area, you can't find entertainment thingy much right there though but if you don't mind very Thai style ones then you'll be alright.

Agree with MTD - Wang Noi is totally dead, unless you get excited by the sight of 2,000 Thai women dressed in blue factory overalls heading off to work in the nearby Japanese camera factory......

My GF lived and worked there 7 years ago and I often went to visit. Wang Noi could make you suicidal. Nearby Ayutthaya was - relatively speaking - like WS in Pattaya when compared to Wang Noi
