Well following on from the reccomendations for the Ploy Guesthouse (thanks Marmite and Walrus) we have booked in there for 1 night.
It also seems like there is hardly any time saved by taking a bus from kannars to HH then going back through Bkk so might end up doing that.
Does anyone know where we can find a cruisy (no long tailed boats) boat cruise to watch the sun go down on the river for an hour or two?

News is what someone, somewhere is trying to suppress - everything else is just advertising.
if ya got an afternoon and transport i suggest asking at the hellfire pass about walking 5 kms along the old trainroute - the guy who runs the place Bill Snape - good fella. will show you where your car can drop you and you walk back to the museum and pass, you will need good shoes and hats plus water but well worth it. not recommend for your average thai girl or seniors.
Cheers MrT but in August that doesn't sound like much fun.
Would much prefer supping ona sundowner on a boat on the river - there must be someone who does this.
I do have a car but have decided will be easier to catch the bus up their and back. Gonna then drive to HH as we will be there for about 10 days.
i have done it, but someone else arranged it so i cant tell you how. sorry.
Send an email to Ploy GH. They have a travel agency on the premises and can probably help you.Originally Posted by MeMock

Cheers.
Kan'buri - Ratchaburi (bus no. 461)
Ratchaburi - Hua Hin (bus no. 71)
6 hrs. ride - every 30 minutes
Would be quicker through bangkok you would think.
No it wont. Driving would be much easier and stress free.Originally Posted by MeMock
It would be if we had the kids but I am leaving the wife and kids back at the hotel for that night.
If I had a decent bangkok map I would take the car probebly but I reckon I would end up taken 4 hours to get there as I would get lost.
Do you have to go into Bangkok or can you go direct to Kan?
I'm not sure I follow. I will be staying in bangkok and will then be going to Kan.
Sorry, I thought you were going to Kan from Hua Hin.
The road out of Bangkok to Kan (or one of them anyway) is the same as the road out to Hua Hin. Just get to the ringroad (9) and go north until you get to Highway 4 and follow it to Nakhon Pathom then follow road 323 to Kan.
There's loads of routes to get there and they're all crap.
Thanks for that Marmite.
We are going Bkk to Kannars then my friends were going to go straight on to HH whilke I return to Bkk to pick up the family and then meet them at HH.
Looks like the friends will come back to the southern bus terminal then jump another one to HH due to not really saving anytime going direct.
You're not a big fan of clarity, are you?Originally Posted by MeMock
Anyway, if I was going in a group from any two points outside of Bangkok, I would just hire a mini van. Fuck mucking around on buses.

What wasn't clear about my post?
I thought it was clear as Mud.
I sent an email to the ploy guest house two days ago but still no reply
Lom I sold the paper and am now retired Clarity is now my middle name!
I think it would be of general benefit to know what the deal is with going direct from Kan to HH.
Any more details, in your own clarity saturated words on this, MeMock?
If you read the start of the thread stroller you would know.
My friends were going onto HH from Kannars and I was going to join them after picking up my family in Bangars.
However it seems like it will take the same amount of time for my friends to come back to Bangars from Kannars with me and then jump a new bus to HH. I will then drive down the next day to join them,
Phone them. They're fucking useless with their email.Originally Posted by MeMock
Basically, you're trying to makes things nice and complicated to ensure the maximum chance of a mishap and a good thread opportunity. That's cool.
I'm good at making things complicated!
I will wait till we are in Thailand and then will then make a few phone calls. Normally I would just roll up but because we are there for less then 24 hrs I wanted to have something organised before hand.
no need to be condescending. I have read every post in this thread and it doesn't give any details at all, it's not even established if it's possible to go direct or not.Originally Posted by MeMock
