| Phnom Penh - Squeekers, Rooms and Eating Out Got a few more photos of Phnom Penh I thought I'd share. Mixed bag this time. Welcome at the Rose Bar on Street 104. ![]() Ring the bell and buy the staff a drink. I didn't bother. ![]() The rooms at the Rose Bar are clean, spacious and well appointed. At $20 a night they represent the best value in that area I have found. They have air-con, ceiling fan, cable TV, hot shower, fridge and mine had a river view. ![]()

The Colonial Bar on Street 104 provides good entertainment. Here are some of the squeekers that attended to our needs while we sat on the balcony enjoying the cool night air. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

A visit to DV8 Bar was in order and we enjoyed several games of pool upstairs. They have a VIP room and you can sit on the balcony in comfort. A couple of squeekers kept us company and racked the balls. ![]() ![]()

We enjoyed a Mexican meal and ribs in the popular Alleycat Cafe down an alley next to the corner of Street 19 and Street 178. They offer good value specials every night between 7pm and 10pm. We had the ribs special on a Tuesday night. This is a weird figure of Yoda at the bar. ![]()

At 347 Sisowath Quay there is an excellent Mexican restaurant called Cantina. I had some of the best Mexican food I have had in Asia here. On the wall are photos by the photo journalist Al Rockoff who is played by John Malkovich in 'The Killing Fields'. Al was in the restaurant when we ate and I was honoured to meet him. On the other wall are stills from the movie 'City of Ghosts' starring Matt Dillon. ![]() The Nachos were homemade and excellent. ![]() We had soft tacos and then this Chilli Verde Burritto with succulent pork and beans. This place I can't recommend highly enough. ![]()

The Pickled Parrot (Tonle Sap Guesthouse upstairs) is where I usually stay but I did eat there a couple of times this visit. Staff are friendly and the food is great. The place has a new Manager called Dave from England. He's a nice bloke. The bar is open 24 hours and it's one of my favourite in the city. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Good thread... Brings back recent memories for me... I have been with the 'squeeker' in the first photo from Rose Bar.... I stayed in the Tonle Sap last time I was there but the Rose Bar rooms look decent from that photo... Must have been interesting to meet Al Rockoff... Does he live there or was he just passing through?
