Thailand has lowest unemployment rate
Frankfurt _ Thailand has the lowest unemployment rate in the world and South Africa the highest, according to data from the International Labour Organisation.
Unemployment in Thailand was 1.9% in 2005, according to comparative data from 43 countries collated by the ILO. South Korea and New Zealand followed with jobless rates of 3.7%.
Ireland and Switzerland had the lowest rate in Europe at 4.4% each.
At the bottom of the list was South Africa with a jobless rate of 26.6%.
The ILO classes unemployed people as those of working age who have no paid employment or who are self-employed even though they actively seek work.dpa
