Number of unemployed on the rise in Thailand
Thailand's Labour Ministry estimates that there were up to 350,000 people, or 1 per cent of the labour market, unemployed last month.

In comparison, the number of job vacancies registered with the Employment Department rose to 143,872 last month, up by 28,172 compared to June.

In June, 51,135 people sought unemployment benefits and only 32,021 could get new jobs.

According to a survey conducted by the National Statistical Office in April, the number of unemployed people stood at around 450,000.

Of them, 170,000 had never had a job before.
