Thailand honours Lulu Hypermarket Group

DOHA: Lulu Hypermarket Group has won this year’s ‘Thailand’s Best Friend Award’, instituted by the Thailand Ministry of Commerce.

The ministry which announced the award said the award is being conferred on Lulu as a sincere appreciation for the long standing trade relations that Lulu Hypermarket Group is nurturing with the Kingdom of Thailand.

Mohammed Althaf, Regional Director of Lulu Hypermarket Group received the Award for the Group from Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva in a glittering ceremony held in Bangkok on June 30.

Lulu Hypermarket Group started its business operations in the Kingdom of Thailand with the establishment of its subsidiary E K Prima Export (Thailand) Co Ltd in Bangkok in the year 1998. The group established business ventures in sectors namely garments, fresh fruits and vegetables and Sourcing Division.

The Group exports a wide range of menswear, ladieswear, kids’ garments, melamine, rice, stainless steel, plastic, footwear, leather, furniture and fruits and Vegetables etc.

Lulu Hypermarket Group is planning to diversify its business operations in Thailand.

The group has plans to invest to build a fish plant. This plant will be mainly used to process fresh and frozen fish to export to other countries.

The group also has plans to invest in a new food division as well as in a meat processing plant. The company has outlined ambitious expansion plans in the next five years in Thailand where the investment climate is highly encouraging for the investors.
