Thai central bank says intervened on baht

BANGKOK, Sept 30 (Reuters) - The Bank of Thailand has intervened on the baht on Tuesday to keep its moves in line with other Asian currencies, Bank of Thailand Governor Tarisa Watanagase said.

She did not say what action the central bank had taken, but she told reporters there were no unusual capital outflows at the moment despite a sell-off in stocks.

The baht was around 34.02/07 per dollar at 0440 GMT, little changed from 34.04 at Monday's close.

(Reporting by Trisanat Kongkhunthian; Writing by Orathai Sriring; Editing by Alan Raybould)

What action do you think they took?

Who knows. Despite the big news of the failed bailout it seems like there hasn't been much news today. This is interesting; it sure would be nice if they gave a bit more info. Why say anything if you are not going to give details. I guess the moneyrich Thais are moving their money into the right positions so as to benefit the most once the whole story gets out to the masses, inclduing us measly farangs.

The Won has lost nearly 1.8B to the Baht today.

It's stayed about the same to Sterling though.

I didn't check the rate for Sterling to Baht yesterday so I don't know.

That's right. I got lucky and transferred some over when it passed 30 but I'm not going to move any more for a while.

It was interesting. I'd opened an account with Kasi, no worries but could only transfer / take out 20k a day.

Called my credit Union and they said Yup that's the go.

I then went to the Bank of Bangkok, produced my card and said"I want some money" Guy said "how much?" I said "500,000" more as a joke than anything and he said "OK".

Swipes card, phones up for authorization, puts cash in envelope.

"I thank you." says I and immediately deposit in a Thai account.

    There you go.

Thats what I'll live off till the $ baht gets better.
