This Dollar strength, is it really what we need?

As I write this the dollar has touched a twelve moth hig against the euro of 1.39250 and 1.7526 against the GB Pound.
For those of us paid in dollars this is good news but looking at it from a wider perspective, its it really helping?
The US economy is not in good health right now, strong exports appear to have been supporting government figures for GDP.
Exports to europe are now 12% more expensive than they were just two months ago when the Euro was 1.587, this surely is going to causing further weakening of the US and world economy?

One positive effect is that dollar strength is pulling down the price of oil which is now 102.50$.

No complaints here, a strong dollar means a strong America.

I'm with you but we can expect some odd and inexplicable inflation here in the LoS which may have a big impact on some.

Last time the dollar gained big time against the baht, there was a big increase in local beer prices, bar fines and pussy.

Exports will be down but the causes in the weak economy appear to be driven primarily by oil price, financial sector failures and low retail spending. The upside to a strong dollar is imports will be cheaper and retail spending should increase. Don't think it will effect the financial institution failures much.
Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.

Wanna adopt my daughter for the month of December spin?

A devaluation in the baht can only help this place and they better stop wasting their national currency reserve (yet again) trying to protect it as well.

Dollar up and down like a yo yo. Fear driven uncertainty in the markets will keep it bouncing around for the near term.
