NESDB hopes Thailand earns 'good management' status

NESDB hopes Thailand earns 'good management' status

BANGKOK, Aug 15 (TNA) – The National Economic and Social Development Board (NESDB) hopes to see Thailand gain recognition as a world leader in terms of good management.

Speaking at al seminar on "A Vision of Thailand…Toward 2027," NESDB Secretary-General Amphon Kitti-amphon said Thailand would experience changes in various aspects of the globalisation age during the next two decades.

In a midst of globalisation, there would be a grouping of regional economies, which could lead to a linkage of the economic system.

He said the center of the world economic power would shift to Asia and that the global financial movement would fluctuate heavily due to speculation by large hedge funds.

The world will enter an era of the aging society, which could lead to global economic recession, Dr. Amphon said, in which technologies will play a greater role in daily living.

Oil supplies will decrease while the price of the commodity will rise, he said. Alternative energy production would be so high that the stability of global foods will be affected, he said.

In addition, global warming would increase and cause more appalling natural disasters, than those which Asia has been experiencing in recent years.

Mr. Amphon said the NESDB has targeted developing the country into a self-reliant economy with food and energy stability and that Thailand would become the economic hub of the region by 2027.

The agency also targeted making Thailand as one of the world's leading countries in terms of good management practices by that year. (TNA)

If they were rating the way the Chinese Thais do business here then I don't believe they have a problem.

When considering the top blokes running the show at present better keep their fingers crossed.

I think you can consider Thailand as a regional speed hump at the moment.

thailand seems to think it can operate as an "island", in terms of it's economy.
somehow, it has managed to do so up until now, but i think they are in for a big shock in the future.
the world has changed and this mentality will see them being left out in the cold.
they cannot escape the reality of globalization, and the need for it, for too much longer.
the unrealistic dream of a "sufficiency economy" them in big shit in the long term.

as for "good management", i am with loy toy on this one....

Ahh, the sufficiency economy, a system devised by a one-eyed man in the Kingdom of the Blind. One of the worlds leading countries in terms of good management? I presume that they will start by shooting all the current managers in Thailand, now might be a good a time to invest in Thai ammunition industries. I have decided that I will be a multi-trillionaire by 2009 and will be a hub of hot hardcore anal asian uniform chicks. Let's see who gets there first, me or Thailand.
