| Thailand : Thaksin's exile ='s Lower Inflation ?? Thai Chamber of Commerce says Mr Thaksin s decision to remain abroad good for the country 13 August 2008 Deputy Secretary-General of the Thai Chamber of Commerce Pornsilp Phatcharintanakul (พรศิลป์ พัชรินทร์ตนะกุล) says the former premier’s desicion to seek political asylum in the United Kingdom may be a good sign for Thailand. Mr Pornsilp says without the presence of Mr Thaksin, the country may experience less conflicts as well as ease inflation. Mr Pornsilp says further that the drop in oil prices may help the inflation rate to remain at 6% this year and the economic growth may expand by more than 5%. Mr Pornsilp says further that he is concerned over the government’s alternative energy policy which still remains unclear. He says the oil price may not go lower than 100 USD a barrel as speculation still exceeds demand. thainews.prd.go.th

![]() What will these muppets believe next, that a visit to an astrologer by an 'influential' person will reduce inflation? Oh hang on a minute, have they tried that one too...?

| Was absolutely laughing myself silly listening to local news with interviews of various politicos. Silly buggers actually believe Thaksin's departure will put all things right in wonderland. Only one, a professor from Chula got it right. Thaksin's departure and the predictable break up of the PPP into a bunch of small parties will only result in governments unable to hold office because of the inevitable in fighting which has always plagued the country when coalitions from multiple parties are needed to form a government. He also predicted the Dems whose policies are fundamentally the same as the TRT/PPP now have a golden opportunity but will again likely fail to gain the trust of rural voters.

Perhaps someone looked up the wrong word in a Thai-English dictionary one day. How close is "DEMOnstration" to "DEMOcrat" ??
