Labor Ministry to propose minimum wage hike to Cabinet
27 November 2007
The Labor Ministry has stated that it will propose the Cabinet during its meeting to increase minimum wages throughout the country by 1 to 7 baht. The ministry decided to make the request after the Central Wage Commission revealed that living costs are beginning to increase in line with ever rising prices of fuel.
The ministry will seek to raise labor pay in low cost of living provinces such as Nan to 144 baht from the current 143. Hikes to more urbanized cities with higher costs of livings will be 194 baht from the present 191 baht.
If approved, the raises will take effect in the beginning of the new year.
