August's export reaches record high at 22.79 billion dollars

NONTHABURI, 21 September 2018 (NNT) - Thailand's export value in August 2018 has reached a record high at 22.79 billion US dollars.

Trade Policy and Strategy Office (TPSO) Director Pimchanok Vonkorpon revealed August's export value has reached the highest-ever record at 22.79 billion US dollars, accounting for a 6.7% growth, with key export products being manufactured by industrial sector which has grown by 5.8%, and agricultural sector which has grown by 4.1%.

Meanwhile, August's total import was recorded at 23.38 billion US dollars, showing a trade deficit by 558 million US dollars.

During the first eight months of this year, the export totaled 169.03 billion US dollars, showing a 10% growth, compared to the total import which amounted to 166.68 billion US dollars, showing a 2.3 billion US dollars in trade surplus.

The TPSO chief said the trade war between the United States and China would adversely affect some export products from Thailand, mainly steel, aluminum, solar cell panels, as well as lower the export volume of electronic goods to China.

She said Thailand's commercial attaches will hold a meeting in October to discuss potential new markers to replace those currently affected, with focus on Asian and South East Asian regions.

The Ministry of Commerce expects 2018's exports to grow by nine percent, amounting to 257.93 billion US dollars.

Will take that to mean the collapse of the Baht is not happening this year, with the World bank and others talking about a the Australian housing market doing a US 2009 and an OZ dollar not doing well against the Baht.

Have to think, if the OZ dollars falls much more against the Baht and housing prices drop 40% as predicted by some international banks, may be time to be a reverse refugee.

Lots of really nice places in North Queensland, strange world one day Thailand is cheap, I paid 15,000 Baht a rai for land at the start, highest was 25,000 a rai, today who knows.
IF I had stayed in Australia working, would have ended up on welfare, eye sight is shot, Thailand, I'm a rubber farmer, about 8 years now after the trees came on line, not rich by along shot, but live easy.
