BANGKOK, 17th May 2018 (NNT) - The Ministry of Commerce is confident that export growth will reach 8 percent, as the country's export value in the first two quarters of the year hits a seven-year high of over four trillion baht.

The ministry has also launched an export development program called Smart Exporter 4.0 Plus to enhance the export and marketing capabilities of over 40,000 Thai businesses. Up to 50 export businesses have expressed interest in the most recent program.

Meanwhile, Deputy Director-General of the Department of International Trade Promotion Wannaporn Kettat revealed today that export growth in the first two quarters of the year expanded by 11 percent to 4.6 trillion baht. Markets of high potential for Thailand include the European Union, which saw its economy grow at its fastest rate in 10 years. In addition, the investment program by Airbus SE in the Eastern Economic Corridor will also increase investment potential from Europe.

Furthermore, Thailand will target new markets in Africa, South Asia, and Latin America that have potential as healthy markets for consumer goods and creative products.
