BANGKOK, 19 March 2018 (NNT) – The Bank of Thailand (BoT) is holding “Bangkok Fintech Fair 2018” to promote knowledge about financial technologies to SME operators and consumers.

Highlights of Bangkok Fintech Fair 2018 include a booth by the Bank for Agricultural and Agricultural Cooperatives showcasing the use of satellite imagery in crop analysis for credit scoring, a booth displaying a QR Code system and the Banking Agent service by the Government Savings Bank and seminars by experts on Fintech geared towards SMEs that need cross border financial transaction assistance.

BoT Governor Weerathai Santipraphop gave a speech on the changing face of financial services, emphasizing that such services are growing in speed. He said the central bank is focused on increasing its productivity to reduce capital costs as well as building immunity against online financial crimes. It is also looking into using financial technologies to reduce inequality in society and to aid foreigners in Thailand.

The event is running until March 20 at the BoT’s Learning Center. It is free of charge and can accommodate up to 800 visitors at once.
