BANGKOK, 15th March 2018 (NNT)-The Department of Livestock has determined a framework to manage chicken and egg supplies as well as their quality.

Department of Livestock Deputy Director-General Dr. Somchuan Ratanamungklanon said today his department will work with related agencies and farmers to ensure egg and chicken supplies are more in line with market demand.

Dr. Somchuan is among government officials tackling the oversupply of 15 farm products which also include chickens and eggs. The Egg Board of Thailand has also limited the number of imported hens and roosters for breeding purposes to curb egg supplies.

He added that efforts had also been made to ensure chicken was chemicals free and safe for consumption. Given the quality, Thailand is now recognized as the world’s 4th largest chicken exporter after Brazil, U.S.A and the European Union (EU) with major importers being Japan and the EU.
