    Would opening an account with HSBC be a wise idea. Does Thailand still have an HSBC branch?

    Those would not be my choices, but to be fair I am not sure what you are trying to achieve with your investments. If you are going to invest in the SET and/or the MAI I would suggest that you take a look at thaistocks.com. It's not cheap, there is a subscription for a six-month membership for €340 (Euro) or a one-year membership for €630 (Euro) but the advice that the site owner gives is pretty good. He almost certainly would not recommend the stocks that you have brought. I have been a member of thaistocks.com for quite a few years and have done very well following some of his advice.

    Other Thai stock sites that are worth looking at are;
    ThaiCapitalist.com | Insights into the SET Index & Thai Stocks excellent site, worth looking at daily although the updates are not always daily.
    SETTRADE.COM - Leading Technology for Professional Investors good for the basic researching of stocks
    Barton's Global Market Trends a bit too technical for me but a lot of good info
    https://www.facebook.com/pages/Barto...s/179071478335 same as above

    If you look at the dividend yield for the stocks that Urban Poet has picked;

    Kasikorn (KBANK) 2.11%
    SCB (SCB) 3.69%
    PTT (PTT) 2.83%
    Lumpini (LPN) NA no data for some reason. They have paid dividends of 0.30 Baht per share in August this year and also 0.60 Baht per share in February of this year. I am too lazy to figure out the true yield.
    Sansiri (SIRI) 7.19%

    Of course this is just the dividend yield and doesn’t sake into account the profit or loss of the individual stocks. Also, I wouldn’t choose four shares, I would be looking at a portfolio of between 8 to 12 shares and would spread the risk around more industries than just banks and real estate.

    I would not invest 1 satang in the SET at the moment. We are looking at at least 1 year of uncertianty.

    usually 20 or 25 midcap, avoid bank stocks or megcaps at all costs, the trap for newbies and amateurs
