Its a bush, Dennis but I guess with the right pruning and encouragement you could train it to any shape

I will plant it OUTSIDE the boundary wall to 'break up' the wall appearance and add some colour and interest, but primarily for additional deterrent.

Update - more wok on the main staircase

So this has been 'left' for some time, probably because the builder did not want to put the flooring down and have a fleet of size 9 work-flip-flops trashing it...

Now though he is carrying out more work:

The second banister has been fitted on the left hand side.

He has started fitting the Mae Daeng treads and risers

Hopefully this will look pretty good when sanded and sealed

Update - main doors weather strip

When he hung the main (dragon) doors, i could not help but notice the air gap in the centre, especially when looking from the inside out...

Weather strip fitted on the centre

no air gap down the centre line

Boundary wall update - front of the house

Work ongoing here too (I accidentally slipped one 'front of house' pic into the last posting - did you spot it!?)

    part of the driveway entrance

...and the other side of that same drive in point

    waiting for the render.

This is the wall going down between us and the lady who wanted 1,000,000 for 0.5 Rai

The second 'entrance' nearest the camera is so they can still get access to the Chonburi Hilton

Looking down from balcony to the top corner on the road frontage

... and the other direction into the 'mangoland'

This is where the pool will go, eventually

    Folding Doors - update

Work also progressing on the folding doors for the master bedroom, dining room and main living room.

Fitting the doors to the master bedroom

I would have preferred glass - that blue is too stark...

The main bedroom is largely finished now.
The floor needs sanding and sealing but he would only do that after the glass is in the doors

Here the alignment for the living room doors is in progress...

Getting the hinges to line up in the right position and check the doors fold smoothly - very important!

    Glazing

Yes! Glazing has now started. the first few windows have been glazed, with a glass having a slight green tint

You can hardly see that tint...

Close up of one completed window.

Thanks Mike..yes, the final push for stage 1 and 2... but that final push seems to take forever.

As I mentioned before though, I am still stuck in Dubai so no need to race to finish - I will not be back there til the last week of APRIL.

He still has a few things to do yet:

The glazing, though he's started that now
    Finish the boundary wall
    all the skirting boards
    Fit all the sanitary-ware
Electrician to complete all the lighting, switches, plugs, etc
    Hang all the internal doors
    Complete the painting where necessary
    The drain field
The second wall at the back of zone 2, downstairs
    Removal of the Chonburi Hilton
    Complete site clear up
    Basic site leveling

OK not a huge list, but he does not have a huge workforce here either.

lol yes Norton... but i'm quite 'OK' with it.

Aside from easing the pressure on my finances, there is the security issue too.

She's not keen to move in alone.

Therefore I don't really want the place completed and empty as that's a temptation....

Would be great if he was stlil 'on site' when i returned...

Kinda hard to describe - but I like it - as I said though it grows - fast, that was a bush four years ago, considered hacking it down a few times, requires a lot of upkeep as once it gets too high can't pick the fruit and blocks sunlight. Produces a lot of fruit for quite a long season. When cutting the grass under the tree you get a aroma of alcohol/wine as a lot of fruit drops.

Alcohol, eh? sounds like 'my kinda tree'..!

I will plant it outside the wall and then keep it trimmed only up to wall height or a little lower. a severe cut-back every few years is no bad thing - encourages new growth

I was wondering if it really has alcohol-making (wine) potential..?

I already have a recipe for mango wine, for when we have more mangoes than we know what to do with

The "tree" we have, which I am sure is the same family needs a lot more cutting back than every few years, grown at least 3m in the past four months, reckon the fruit would be ok for wine, might give that a try this year, can you share your recipe for mango wine? wife makes a lot of wine, fast coming into mango season where we will have then coming out of our ..................
If you do plant them they need to be at least 5m apart, they really spread!
    Cheers!

TD, not long now eh. On the folding doors, are the running along a top & bottom track? apologies if you've already said.

Garden wise, clearly you have started thinking on it, are you going to do the same as BiP and do a separate thread?

Hey NPT..doors top hung only because the lower runner often clogs up.

When closed it is of course secured with bolts

Did not really think about a separate thread since i have covered just about everything in this one. After it got going and took off as it has, I thought I would try to do at least one complete thread for the forums reader, for all things connected to construction , hence we are currently covering the boundary wall, and later will be the car port. At least the initial landscaping and layout will be in here but later once there is some garden to actually write about - why not?

Anyway, not long after we complete zone 1 and 2 comes...zone 3
