| What can I get for 60,000 near Silom Look like I am Bangkok bound (office in Silom) and my rent allowance likely to be around THb60,000 per month. I don't particularly want a modern place, would much rather prefer an older place with character. I'm looking for a lot of space (three bedrooms at least) as I have a mass of furniture. Could I get a townhouse in the area or nearby for that? Or a large condo? I'd really like a pool (don't mind sharing) and some open space -- either a large balcony or small garden. |

| Thanks for the replies. I definitely want my furniture. Most are decent pieces I've collected over the years and if I'm going to be there 3-4 years I want something better thana leatherette sofa and chrome and glass coffee table ... Work pays to shift it anyway. |

But yes you should find a reasonably sized ok older place that is ok for that price. every place will have a pool and gym (sauna too, but who uses them?)

| buy the serviced appartment magazine Bangkok that you can find in almost every bookstore. There you will see pictures and prices of what the professional rental market has to offer. You have everything from the utmost highclass residential down to higher middle. |

There's a nice townhouse I know, in mid Ekamai for that price if you are interested. 450 sq m, 4 bedrooms, pool and nice common garden leading from the 2nd floor living room, with carparks & utilities on the ground floor. Let me know if I can be of help. Cheers!

| Hifaluten Member | 60,000 a month = 720,000 a year or close to 3 million for the 4 years you stay You could get a loan from the bank and buy a nice apartment for that and by the time you leave got a nice shag pad for the return visits If you have to submit rent slips to your employer to draw down the allowance, simply write rent slips to yourself using a fake name

| Smooth Sakhon | you can rent a nice house with garden on the suburbs. If you dont mind travel 20 Km or so, go out west and there are plenty of housing estate to choose from... Best is a visit by yourself and ask the people in the village for availabilities, goes cheaper... 60k you get a huge mansion in my area, 25 km west of Silom |

| The Surgeon. | If your work is going to be in Silom then I know of a decent new town house for rent, location is (not sure of the soi number) but the Indian Temple is on the corner of it on the Silom end, the town house is about 100 meters up from the Sathorn end of the soi, on your right hand side from Sathorn direction and on your left hand side from Silom direction. It looks like it is empty at the moment, not sure of the price but I can get you the phone number as I pass it most week days. Could be worth a call.
