Whats the cheapest one would expect to pay for a real dump of an apartment in a crap area of bangers? Not like countryside mind but nothing flash, you know what I mean? Cheers all.

The only place that I have actually rented, anywhere near Bangers, was a 1300Bht/month 'poo pit' backing on to the river, out Northanburi way. It was over a Butchers. One room and a toilet and the electric was extra. Very, very cheap but utterly, utterly dreadful.

Theres places in Thonburi 3000 baht up with own kitchen Hong Nam etc toilet in a nice quiet soi nr wat pralineet 5 mins Rajvithi ferry etc
Helps if u speak Thai and can handle soi dogs good luck

start out renting a room for the month (8-10k)at Rompo Mansion or similar older thai hotel where a variety of expats live.
Once you get to know a handful of local ladies you can generally find your way into something interesting.

^you have to develop a support network, usually through some thai ladies which latch onto you.
First stay at a older thai hotel which rents by the month(Rompo Mansion is a good one rooms 8-10K) After a month you should have it sorted out.
