Decent room for 6-8k / month close to BTS between Asok and Siam?

Hi,

Can anyone recommend a place with decent rooms for 6-8k / month close to BTS between Asok and Siam or in that area?

Everybody probably have a different idea about what decent means but for me that means aircon, hot water, not too run down, not too noisy and some level of security.

No need for pool, gym or sauna. Internet not necessary but a bonus, same with cable or satellite TV.

Two posts and two questions, I know, promise I'll start contributing to the board as well.

Thin you'll be lucky to get somewhere round that area for that price. I used to live on soi 36 Phrom Pong about 6 or 7 years ago and I was paying 6,000 for a studio back then.

For that sort of price the easiest thing to do is check these sites

List of Thailand Bangkok Apartment, Serviced Apartment for Rent
Mr Roomfinder | Find Bangkok Apartments - Thai Condos - House Rents

You can search by location and price.

gonna be tough. you've picked a high rent district to go shopping for low end apartments.

your best bet would be looking for something around onnut BTS or huay kwang MRT

I disagree, plenty of places there, try some of the subsoi's off soi 22 or 16 etc, the even side of the road is much cheaper.

IMO - best to walk the streets for a day or two, go in and ask the security guards if there are rooms available.

Soi 22

- 6-8k / month ... check
- close to BTS, Asoke to Siam ... not really
- "decent" asin "not too run down, not too noisy and some level of security"
... no

Lot of bar workers, bars, and guys who like to live in close proximity to 'the industry' 24/7. Not for everyone.

Soi 16 - doubt it. The market only starts to open up again around Queen Sirikit to Central Rama 3.

Better options than lower Sukhumwit for ultra cheap, decent, and close to BTS/MRT. As for the CBD area like Chitlom and Siam, forget it.

Thanks for all your input everybody, sounds like I might have to widen my search criteria a bit, geographically and/or financially. I'll go up there tomorrow and see what I can find, will let you know how it goes.

Thanks again!

Took kingwilly's advice and spent a day walking up and down the sois in that area and it turns out he's absolutely right, plenty of rooms there.

Ended up getting one slightly above the specified budget (9.000/month) but it was a little bit bigger than most of the other rooms and great location on Sukhumvit soi 19, walking slowly it took me 2 minutes to get to Robinson, 4 to the BTS, 6 to the MRT and around 10 to the gym (California WOW).

Sounds like a good deal, what kind of place is it, guest house or apt, how old? Do you have internet and cable tv with english stations? My friend might want to have a look, thanks...
