How cheap ? and where do you wanna be based ?
Anything under 500bht that'll have a promotion for a few nights stay. Me and the missus are going to get her a new passport, so, anything near there...
Hope that helps.
800 bht is really the limit...

Recently stayed at Town Lodge, it was pretty cheap, came out to about 1400 a night or so.. service was okay I guess, but we were barely there, however we both did end up with what appears to be some bed bug bites.
The free breakfast they serve is great, the lady that serves is nice and has a great attitude and will make anything you request.
Above the rest of that the only draw back was it being at the end of Soi 18, that place can be a mess if Tacos and Salsa is quite busy, plus the haggling by the massage girls (I can't complaina bout that but the wife did) can be bothersome if you are there with family.
Ended up in a cheap as chips hotel in Bang Na. 200 baht a night. No AC, 14 inch CRT with no signal and a loo with no bog roll. Who cares? Seeing as the time me and the missus spent in Bangkok it was just somewhere to get our heads down.
Went down to the Siam open air bazaar near On Nut. The food was shit but the chang was cheap.

What are their policies with bringing back a friend?
You can bring back a friend, but like Cinderella you must be back by midnight because the elderly owner goes to bed then.
