    two day stopover

A workmate is arriving bangkok 15th nov for 2days flying from sydney to india,1st time bangkok,i suggested baiyoke sky, but, with floods i don't know,he wants a bit of fun so a hotel similar closer to lower suk would suit him i think,a few questions, should he book hotel online or wait and roll up from airport, are the ferries running,or just cab it to patts and save wondering if all will be ok,your'e advice would help.thanks.

I doubt he'd need to book at the moment, but I always do, just in case.

2-days, no need to book a room.
    Just rent by the hour!
