    Beer Gardens

Anyone know if the beer gardens have opened up yet? Was thinking of poping off to have a few jars in a beer garden Sat. evening and watch the local Uni students. But I'm a little concerned these new non-booze adverts and girls walking around in tight beer dresses amy have spoiled the fun

I thought that the beer gardens as we know them had been banned as part of the alcohol crackdown.
As they are really blatant adverts for the brew.
Certainly the Heinie one near mee has not op[ened this year.
    A real shame

The only people I remember seeing were a bunch of westerners sitting there being deafened by the 'music'. Come to think of it, that beer garden is a Singha one, not Heineken.

You should come to chiang mai where there are very few beer gardens but you never have to worry about them closing. And the women...... well...... you may have a clue.

Last year that one was 'Cheers'.

Bloody awful stuff, I had to force down quite a few before I could be sure just how awful it was, but by that time I had forgotten why I was there.

I was at the Singha beer garden in front of the World Trade Centre a few weekends back...pretty much business as usual everywhere as far as I have seen.

They even banned alcohol on buses now, I just found out - still managed to sneak in a few cans and be my usual self during the journey.

My friend who works for King Power doing the airport has told me that they are going to enforce the no alcohol times at the airport!

    How dumb is that!

The complete ban on alcohol advertising comes into effect December 3.
If beer gardens are not just one complete advert for a particular beer I do not know what is.
"Beer names" can not even be used to sell soda.
I.E. Chang and Singha soda water.
Thai brewers are not amused and feel that they will lose market share to cheap chinese brews although i thought import duties if applied would ensure that they were not cheap.

    Time will tell I suppose
