Got my tickets! (anyone know a good realtor in BKK?)

Tried to post this in the Real Estate room, but looks like it needs special approval and not much activity in there anyway:

So I finally booked our tickets for my wife and I's first-ever trip to Thailand next month. Thanks to many of your replies here on TeakDoor for helpful tips and info.

The purpose of this trip is to get oriented with the country, see some sights (temples, etc), travel a bit (trip to Krabi/Phi-Phi), but also to "scout" out the possibility of moving there next year to attend school at RamKhamhaeng University.

We plan to visit the school, and would also like to see examples of potential living arrangements nearby.

Does anyone here know the most reputable realtors in the area of Bangkok near Ramkhamhaeng? English speaking is of course necessary, honest, fair, etc is good too.

We'd like to arrange a day or two of looking at potential places to live next year, and having a good realtor to communicate with between this upcoming trip and next year's move would be nice.

Along with wanting something very close to the University, we'd also need a place with the following:

    - allows pets! (we have a small Maltese we cannot leave behind)
    - good air-conditioning
    - good internet
    - nearby good transportation
    - security
    - can get utility bills directly from companies---don't want "falang" prices decided by landlord
    - hot water
    - pre-furnished (beds, couch, chair, table, refrigerator, etc)
    - if possible, be located on higher floor of building (to avoid critters--human & animal)

....and all of that for under $500/month USD, which comes to around 15k baht if my math is correct.

Any referrals for who to talk to on this would be greatly appreciated!

*EDIT - For a hotel, the one we wanted DS67 Suites is sold out according to Agoda, anyone know an alternative right in that area? On Agoda's map, the only one nearby is Jasmine Resort Hotel, a littler pricier, but location is important (want to be very close to where my friend lives off that Phra Khanong BTS station). The only other right there, Lilla Hotel, is sold out for my dates also and doesn't have great reviews anyway.

If nothing else around there, what does anyone know about the Jasmine Resort? I've read the reviews on Agoda, seems ok.

This one's down the street a bit, but could work too I suppose - Hope Land Executive Residence - and not as pricey as Jasmine.

    hotels ramkhamhaeng

Not sure of the comfort level that you are looking for but a fairly good hotel that i have stayed at many times is Nasa Vegas. It is located directly on the airport line, all the buses pass out front, and it is located between phra kanong and ramkhanhaeng university.
Another option is the San fran or san francisco hotel directly across the road from the University. It seems like a good place.
Maybe others have more information about it.

Ramkhamhaeng is the bottom of the bottom for Thailand Universities.

Anyone in Thailand regardless of GPA can go to Ramkanghaeng.

Why is it so popular? Because it is an open admission university, you do not have to attend classes and you study at your own pace at home.

Show up once in a while to take an exam after you have been studying

A degree from this school is absolutely worthless

Mahidol was ranked #1 in all of Asia, you should go there if you want to get an education that is worth something

    - allows pets! shouldn't be a problem

    - good air-conditioning shouldn't be a problem

    - good internet uhhhhh no comment

    - nearby good transportation shouldn't be a problem

    - security - a guy in uniform picking his nose or sleeping? Yes. Security? No
    - can get utility bills directly from companies---don't want "falang" prices decided by landlord shouldn't be a problem

    Thanks for the replies.

Regarding the comments about Ramkhamhaeng University. My answer - "precisely".

Explained in greater detail in my posts inside the "Teaching in Thailand" forum here. (Ramkhamhaeng University - any experiences?)
