    What would you recommend??
Is Somboon worth eating at or is it just another rip off tourist over priced joint??

    2. If i reside in the Bedroom Hotel (right opp Big C) a 5 minute walk from the Onut sky train any good chinese or thai locale places for eating walking distance or for a close taxi ride??

I love my food and I think I'm a reasonable judge of restaurant quality - I should be, I've spent enough time in them over the years!

I've been to two Somboon Seafoods. One was the original (I think) in Surawong. Another time I tried to go to it with a Thai friend but it was a holiday and everything was shut. Finally, the taxi driver took us to another one that was in quite a modern mall, not quite sure where exactly, but not too far from Surawong.

Touristy or not, the famous crab curry at the Surawong branch really is super-delicious and worth travelling for. My brother and I had one each then split another one, it was just too good to resist! At the other one it was pretty good too but not as good as the first one and it didn't have quite the same buzzing atmosphere.

    Thumbs up from me!

Just make sure all of the seafood is cooked unless you like spending the rest of the night on the Khazi.

What are the prices like? I eat at a lot of local places around Huay Kwang/Ratchada but never this place. Looks a bit touristy.

Kwang Seafood on Ratchada, across from the Emerald Hotel. Had crab curry, fresh oysters and a few other dishes there last night. Reasonable, clean and very good.

Not in Bangkok but in Samut Sakhon - about 1 hour drive from Bangkok, well, from where I am.

Ta Rua restaurant, go to the Ferry landing in Samut Sakhon (also called Mahachai) and the restaurant is on the left as you look at the river.

Very fresh seafood - fantastic Crab - and a great view of the comings and goings on the river.

Yeah, I did give a rather poor description.

Referring to Ram Inthra means the Ram Inthra Expressway, nowhere near Ram Inthra, which is actually called the Chalong Rat Expressway. That is going north from Ekkamai.

Of course it is not on the Expressway. The road is actually called Pradit Manutham. The restaurant is located somewhere south of Prasote Manukhit, on the Southbound carriageway.

To Bangkokians, this road is known as 'riap thang duen' and there are many, many seafood restaurants along it. Unfortunately, most of the signs are in Thai and it gets frustrating trying to find places when people give you visual directions. I'm going to look for your recommended place, BC.
