    Hotel near Embassy

The Aussie Embassy is in 37 Sathon Tai, Bangkok, 10500

Can anybody suggest a really good hotel in the area?

I neither know or like BKK but it has to be done so any help would be appreciated.

Stay at Nasa Vegas then catch the train into Sala Daeng, from there its a 50baht taxi ride.

The best deal I have ever found on a hotel is currently valid in Bangkok.

Wotif dotcom is that web site that lists "mystery" hotels, those with empty rooms sitting idle that could generate some revenue but advertising them at a lower rate would ruin their immage.

Anyway, their 999 Baht Hotel in Sukhumvit is the Le Fenix Hotel off Soi 11 which is where the Nana Station is. It claims only 3 stars, but it's 4 plus in my estimation, and the location is fantastic. If you're near the sky train or subway and know how to get to the embassy, you can stay somewhere more fun.

Evergreen Laurel is just across the road:
    88 North Sathorn Road
    Bangkok 10500, Thailand
    02-2669988
For the cost of a short Tuk Tuk ride I'd rather stay at Silom Serene in Soi Pit Pat (next to the main Bangkok Bank office) or at the Swiss Lodge on Soi Convent

DD's map is the best guide, then try Asiarooms -

Most are very expensive. Haven't stayed in awhile but Swiss Lodge is close and good at about 2,000 per night.

If you're only staying for a night and want to be on top of the embassy, then you can try Soi Ngam Duplee. They have a few guest houses and hotels on the soi and it's not too far off walking distance to the embassy (about 2 ciggies walk).
Malaysia hotel springs to mind (not the best, but depends on what you want?)
    Here's a link and a map............Malaysia Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand

    Black diamonds? I shit 'em.

Faruke!!! Would have put that in the TB2k- 2.5K tops inc. breakfast - thought it was a mid class tour bus overnighter.

    Thanks folks.

Around the 2000 mark, give or take is good. Wife will be meeting me there so no need for "fun" places.

Use map link to zoom in on Sathon then use landmark box for displaying embassy's and hotels. Click on H or E symbol located on map to get name of that hotel or embassy.

JJ this one looks like it would really fit the bill. Have had friends stay there as well.

Scrub off the Malaysia hotel then. Thought you just wanted somewhere cheap and cheerful to rest your head for the night.
Would stay here on my own, but not with the missus (she has higher standards than me!).

The Sukhothai is a wonderful hotel close by, the Banyan Tree isn't bad either.

Try Ban Silom - Google is your firend here. A short walk to the embassy and an even shorter walk to BTS Sala Daeng. Loads of restaurants etc. close by and the damage shouldn't be much more than 1000 baht per night. Big rooms, clean and courteous staff and owner.

JJ, Good deal mate. Like I said All seasons is basic but clean, and you can't get closer to the embassy. When I stayed there they also had free wifi. The second time I stayed there they upgraded me and the missus, which was good. The room service food is, in my opinion, overpriced for the quality (but what hotel isn't?).
There is also parking available if you're driving there.
