Before you leave and lock up the place and give her the keys, gather about six stinky mangy Thai street dogs and put them inside with enough food and water for a couple weeks.

The best place for an after hours lock in Nick the owner will be devastated he loves that place and it cost him a fair bit to buy his last partner out.

So she'll try and carry on running it herself? Odd decision, it'll be doomed for failure surely?

I've Known Nick and his sister for the last 12 years and it is sad to see he is being stitched up.

Knowing him well he will bounce back.

^If someone has rented a building for 8 years or more it is real hard to get them out, good chance the court will rule in his favour.

Derek used to be our goalkeeper when I played for the British Club football team a few years back.

He left for Cambodia in 2008.

When the new owners had their opening night, it was unlimited free booze.

Never felt inclined to do a runner from this gaff, even though that alleyway round the corner would provide a decent getaway.

So their rental contract will come to an end. The owner doesn't want to lease to them anymore. All sounds fair and legal. It is up to her what she does with her property after all, and no contracts will be broken.

Actually I may have the wrong Derek, I'm thinking of Derek of the Winking Frog, who also played sport and left to Cambodia. Could be a different Derek.

Depending whats written in the contract and I expect Nick would of had an extension option.

Correct, but I bet she has had secret meetings with Nick's staff already.

    Remains to be seen.

Nicks a good bar person and he should either stand by his rights or fook off somewhere else. His customers will follow him.

Fact? Good for her if that's the case. How long has she leased the property to them, 5 yrs+? Good for her to take over if she feels she can be successful from it.

If she's a good business woman. Seems like they had their run, if she's free to take over that's entirely her legal right. If the customers drop off, I'm sure she'll have little trouble finding a new farang eager to enter the world of Thai-business and lease the property again.

    Maybe.

The ex-partner went to start the Crossbar pub on Suk Soi 23 (because Nick was drinking all the profits if I remember correctly) and isn't the one from the Winking Frog (renamed Christophers after he left).

An extension option? You mean one that has been registered? Thats the only legal one if its more than 3 years, if it was 3 plus 3 years and unregistered he doesn't have a legal extension option.

Well as a land lord not very ethical don't you think?

True, I do not know whether she has this in mind but I imagine Nick is a good tenant and paid want ahe wanted on time every month.

I'm just a bit pissed off for Nick as Bars don't normally just open and shut in 5 years and I am referring to the successful one's. As a land lady she should of known that it would be a long haul lease and I am sure that Nick has an option and she is fighting to honour this option.

It's Brian who runs the X-Bar, a brummie chap. Apparently he was partners with the pickled liver guy before.
