i know em both and this very far from the truth
i was out with nick last week so this must be a recent development
he's had it solely for about 4 years now if i remember correctly
as for the woman running it herself; i doubt it as it didnt work out when the place was the old belle

Derek used to be our goalkeeper when I played for the British Club football team a few years back.

He left for Cambodia in 2008.

When the new owners had their opening night, it was unlimited free booze.

Apparently took quite a beating before he left. After he left the place was stripped bare in days, including the boxes of Bangers Polo Shirts he was holding for the club.

This was about a year ago, not heard of him since, but you just know he'll be in Pattaya....

MTD is 100% correct it was very awkward drinking in there at that time to see how 2 friends who were neighbours at the Omni tower had ended up disliking each other so much after going into business together to an extent not even a hello or a goodnight was said between them. Brian was still a partner when he opened The Crossbar so i dont think it's been 4 years that Nick has solely owned it but time does fly here so you could be right I'm sure somebody will know what year Brian's new venture started up.

I just heard the Pickled Liver is going to be re-opening on soi 7/1 (I don't know the exact date, but fairly soon)- it would have been a shame to lose that bar.

If Thais try tricks like this then the only response is to take the business elsewhere. The goodwill follows, the new landlord benefits and the old landlord winds up losing money, and face.

Short-term thinking is a Thai trait, I'm afraid.
