Grossi: Light lunch at the Intercontinental

I was looking for a place to have a quick lunch, but wasn't really hungry. Thought about fastfood but nothing I felt like eating.

Then I walked by Grossi and saw they had tables outside and since I keep receiving their email ads, I decided to give it a try or at least look at their menu and see what they had.

it wasn't really a nice day to sit outside but they had nice tables and it was empty, and their Italian chef is supposed to be the best in town

I looked at their menu, and I have to say I was a bit disappointed, not much choice, but they had a few interesting signature dishes with lambs and "truffle" that might be worth it. But for now, I needed something light, so I went for the "Chef Anti-Pasti"

The "Chef Anti-pasti" is quite a good deal, you got to choose 8 items from their anti-pasti bar, and quite reasonably priced at 450 THB

I choose the Chicken bites, grilled marinated vegetables and something else I couldn't identify

I was looking for beers to go with this or even wine, but they had the usual crappy local beers or small bottles of an expensive imported Italian beer at 220 THB

I decided to go with Italian Sparkling water, one liter, quite a good deal at 140 THB, cheaper than your small minere at 60 THB a bottle

I had to order some extra bread, I love Italian bread, it came with nice olive oil

service was excellent, and believe it or not, I was full after all this. Not a bad deal, and again it's the Intercontinental, the place the reds had shutdown for 3 months

Total was about 590++

For 37 baht the kao kao mu across from the Rompo is a much better deal IMHO.

Seems a not bad deal.
Try the lunch menu at that italian place in terrace 49 ( suk 49).
You get a 3 course meal plus coffee and free flow of your gay italian sparkling water for about 500 bt. Starter can be antipasti buffet.
Nicer ambiance as well if its not too hot to sit outside.
