    Quick Stop in BKK

I land in Suwarnabhumi on Thursday evening, and I'm out early in the morning, so I want to stay at an airport hotel and get the metro into Bangkok for a few beers with friends. Normally I'd staying in Bangkok and get a later flight the next day, so this is new territory for me.

Can someone tell me what the most convenient airport hotel is, and what the procedure is to get the new train in to Bangkok and on to Sukhumvit?

    Cheers,
    Harry

Thanks Fondles, but I actually do want to stop the airport hotel. I don't want to traipse luggage around.

Up to you, I just checked the Novatel swampy website, for you to stay on Thursday night it will cost 4400b...... I would take my bags on the 30min airtrain to Nasa for a saving of 3510b....

Was my thought as well. Certainly the nearest. Nice rooms but pricey.

There are a bunch of little hotels on On Nut (Sukhimvut Soi 77) within 5 minutes of the airport, and they have vans to pick you up and take you back. I stayed at one called Convenience Resort when I was in transit. It was 700 baht, very nice with van service. Suggest you try agoda-dotcom, then narrow Bangkok down to the area of the airport, that's how I found this place.

The price at that hotel in the airport is insane and I'm sure much of it is going to an unworthy cause.

Yeah, looks pretty fine; 700 baht, close to the airport; looks like we've found a winner.

you could always leave your bags at the airport left luggage
Left Luggage | Suvarnabhumi Airport | New Bangkok Airport Guide

then head off nice and light

don't look too high tech though...

Here's one that i stayed at ealier this year Harry www.greatresidencehotel.com .

'Homely' rooms and looks not far from the 'Convenient Resort'. Walk in price was 1400 baht in May but booking online was around half, now charging 750 baht online including free transfer to airport (one way). Will pick you up at the airport (advised) and charge 150 baht for return in a very nice Camry.

The Convenient Resort looks good also.
