Need help finding a good dentist

I am looking at needing 6 crowns, a tooth implant and a few cavities to be filled. The quote to have the work done in the States is outrageous and I would like to go to Thailand to have the work done. I will be in Bangkok on November 14th for about a week for unrelated reasons and while I am there I would like to have my teeth looked at. Can anyone recommend a good dentist or dental clinic that I can visit?

There are many great dentists here, some expensive and some not but you will be pushing your luck to get that amount of work done in one week particularly the implant.

I know a very good one in Pattaya but I would ask at the front desk of the hotel and they should point you in the right direction. By the way keep away from the major hospital dentists as they can be very expensive.

as LT said, 1 week is a little short on time to have all the work described. For my caps/crowns, it took a week but I had not expressed expedited service. Suggest with that much work to be done that a little more time be alloted. You will want to have some time on the back end when the work is completed to make sure that all is well and no need to have adjustments. Just precautionary but that's me.

I do not plan to have all the work done in one week this November. That seemed a bit much. Maybe I can have the small cavities filled but the crowns and implant will have to wait.

I do want to have the Bangkok clinic do a thorough exam to see if their findings match the diagnosis of my US dentist. Sometimes I think my US dentist wants to see a perfect set of teeth while I want only a sound set of teeth.

Whatever work needs to be done, I would return to Bangkok to have the work completed at a later appointment, maybe as far in the future as 4 - 6 months later. While there seems to be a lot of work needed the urgency to have it done is not great. Even my US dentist says I can probably wait 6 months.

4 years ago I had all the mercury fillings removed from my mouth. Some of them were so big that I had to have 6 crowns done and 8 fillings.

Near our apartment was The Mayo hospital on Pahonyothin so I tried their dental department. My dentist there was ( and still is ) Ms Hemawan . She speaks perfect English and did an excellent job. My girlfriend tried her and become a convert. My mother was here last year and had 4 fillings and a crown and also gave her a big thumbs up. Costs were in line with other clinics in the area.

Two weeks back I went to one in Thonglor, Soi 55 about 500 metres from Sukhumvit on the left. 3 xrays, a full clean, two fillings, total cost about 4500 baht. I reckon its about a third of the cost of the same in Australia, and it didn't hurt a bit. No problems with language, a lot of the dentists have done their study in the USA or UK. Medical tourism will help fund my holidays, a win - win. The medicos at home don't like it, but I say screw them in the same way they do to me.

there is a dental hospital near Victory monument and was told they were good but if you have a time limit then you may have to search around.

I'll track down all of these clinics and hospitals and make a decision. Pattaya is too far to go this trip, and I think I will be able to find a good place in Bangkok among all of your recommendations.

Bazzy, I agree completely about the dentists at home. Do you remember the name of the clinic on Soi 55? Could it have been Asavant possibly?

No sorry don't recall the name, just the location. I set out to find Asavant but walked straight past it. Saw it on my way ot of the soi after going to the other place.

Mate I go to a very good chinese dentist who works from a surgery on Petkasaem Road (not excatly sure of spelling) in Omnoi..his work is very good and his prices are ok.....can find out more about his address next week if you need as I have broken a bloody tooth and need to go back to him...
