    How about the Airport

Now that the new airport has bee open for a few weeks, is there any tricks to getting in and out, easily, and inexpensively?

I took a Taxi, once, and took the local bus, to the sky train, a other time. The bus, and train, cost 75 Baht, the taxi cost 350 baht. of course the taxi was faster and easier.

The airport has only been open for a few weeks, I would guess that people are still finding better ways to deal with the traffic issues, ect.

But if I am out of line asking then I will shut up, and just read, instead of posting. What ever works best. I am easy.

Hi Bobk, yep the airport has been only open a few weeks but there is heaps of stuff online about it both here and on other thai message boards.

    Enjoy your look around.

Keep on posting mate, most of the threads I've seen on the subject revolve around the problems they are having there, it's probaly too early for many "travel tip's" posts and most people have'nt needed to use the place yet

I only got to use the old airport twice, but it deemed to be a more managable place. easier to get to an dfrom. Well I guess that is progress.

I have been just the once to the new place. I took the BTS to On Nut and a taxi from there to get there and on the return I asked the taxi desk for the mnearest bts/mrta and was immediately informed On Nut.
I could see this as being a bit of a problem in the future- lotsds of possibilities for traffic jams on the routes they used with me.
Cost was mre expensive than with the old airport o sukhumvit.About 200 baht or so certtainly not the 350 baht mentionned in one post. However a lot would depend obviously on final destination or starting point

I didn't mean it like that BK... just suggesting that it would help everyone if it was all kept in one thread...

makes it easier to find the info when you need it rather than opening half a dozen threads...

how ever, I'm sure the mods will merge it anyway...

of course you could be CMN trying to lift your thread count...

Oh, do I love these innocent questions from newbies
Thread count (having started many threads) and bragging about it will extend your willie by a few inch.

Under impressed would be an under statement!
It's ok until you get to the arrivals area then it turns to shit - quickly, it's too small, and the 'taxi touts" have been given free access it seems, it's a circus if you are looking for the someone who is supposed to meet you, I was supposed to have a driver, never did see him, added to this the aircon is'nt worth a *hi* too hot, the old airport was far better!
At least all the road works on the way to Pattaya have now been nicely finished off

I found it OK, went upstairs to arrivals, jumped into a taxi which had just dropped off, Soi 4 in 12 mins, 140 baht. Came back from Soi 4 on a Fri 13.00 in about 18 min, 160 baht.
Alot easier and cheaper, or was I lucky?????

12 mins and 140 baht to Soi 4? It takes 12 minutes to get out of the bloody airport.

BANGKOK, Thailand (AP) -- Authorities in Thailand said Wednesday they will triple the number of toilets at the newly opened Bangkok international airport following a flood of passenger complaints.

The sprawling Suvarnabhumi International Airport only has some 100 toilets for the more than 100,000 daily passengers, sparking frustration and anger among those having to stand in long lines.

"We are aware of this burden on the passengers and I have ordered a quick resolution to this problem by ordering the building of 200 more toilets. The project has already begun," the head of the Airports Authority of Thailand Chotisak Asapaviriya told The Associated Press.

The 400 million baht ($10 million) project is expected to be completed within 45 days.

"I guarantee that by then passengers and visitors to the airport will find convenient relief," Chotisak said.

Opened last month and hailed as the new air hub for Southeast Asia, the airport has not been without problems, including slow unloading of luggage, insufficient seating at departure gates and a cramped taxi pickup area.

Most recently, some of the parking bays have been temporarily closed for repairs due to the uneven surface of the ramp approach, Chotisak said.
News is what someone, somewhere is trying to suppress - everything else is just advertising.
