Where to watch the World Cup in English. In BKK.

Can we get a list of places to watch the WC in English in Bangkok?

I don't go out much, but would like to go out and watch some of the games in English.

I'm sure that somebody will correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that the World Cup matches are only being shown on True Sport HD (Channel 111). Simple change of language in the menu is all that's required.

Until recently, I had Multichoice from South Africa, which was brilliant for sport. Unfortunately, effective today (31st), they've changed their broadcast 'footprint', so it can only be received in Africa.

Because of this, and much against my better judgement, I've had to have True installed again. In truth though, the HD Sport channel is brilliant, the picture quality is fantastic, and they are showing every single World Cup game live.

I was under the impression that the games were being shown on Thai tv also, not too sure what channels though. Perhaps someone can confirm.

Indeed it is. If one doesn't have it at home, plenty of the pubs will. Check around your area as pubs will all be advertising when they are showing games.

This link details all of the fixtures. Note the times are BST, so +6 hours for Thai timings.

True are apparently privately saying that no-one has bought the broadcast English commentary, so you may have to put up with "Saint and Gleavsie".

Although I read that Fm105.5 will broadcast English.

Excuse my being a dummy harry, but are you saying that a pauper like me can watch at home on Thai tv with the sound off and listen on Thai radio FM105.5?
I am sure someone said it will be on Thai tv channel 3 or channel 7 ??

Armchair chang is much cheaper than BKK sports bar chang, but i will make the effort to be sociable for the England games.

Have you ever watched a football game on a Thai TV channel? Adverts every 5 or 10 mins. Though they do keep a little square in the top right corner of the TV with the game playing. But all in all, you will see (full screen) about 45 mins of the 90 mins or so of football.

But in their defence - they cut away to that small box whenever the ball goes out of play and the ad plays during the dead time. Well - that's how it's meant to work in theory.

OK. Where is a good bar showing the games with a decent beer promotion?

I thought most games of Football are about 85 minutes of 'dead time'? Get rid of the off-side rule and get some action happening.
