    BKK Skytrain and subways

    Friday April 22, 2009

Are the skytrain and subways running in BKK? Which are open and which closed? Any help from people who use them daily on this would be greatly appreciated. BTW I'm planning on going from Laprao/Chatuchak to Emporium.

Sounds good. The Skytrain is the easiest way to zip around town down there. Thanks.

    SKYTRAIN

On Nut-Baring route to open in August

Commuters can start using the longawaited extension of the Skytrain's Sukhumvit Line from On Nut to Baring on August 12.

A trial run was scheduled for May 4, with the media invited, Jate Sopitpongstorn, spokesman of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, said Monday after a meeting of BMA executives.

Throughout June, the whole Skytrain system would be tested before the Baring extension would be officially launched on August 12.

A promotional fare of Bt15 per trip would likely be charged, he added.

Will there be a section of single track so one train has to stop for 20 mins so the oncoming one can pass? It's kinda cute how the Silom line does it.

Phase one finishes with an 11km+ extension from Morchit to Saphan Mai.

And with phase two there's a 10km+ extension to Samut Prakan planned on this Soi Bearing end.

Good on them if they can actually manage it all within the next 10 yrs.

There's another one at Udom Suk, the next stop after On Nut.
It is where the old Suan Luam night bazaar has moved, opposite Soi 101,
theres a little fair there too

Finally took the PhyaThai BTS station -Suwannaphum link. 45baht one way. Easy in and out. About four stops along the way before reaching the station. The train comes in right under the airport so all you have to do is take a couple escalators to get up to where you need to be.

By the way, there's a Subway sandwich shop at the end of the line at Suwannaphum right when you get to the airport if you want sandwich before your trip.
