lovely brand new wooden interior, smelt lovely
nice interior, but the seating area outside is pretty cool too, nice place to watch the traffic and get choked on fumes
ketamine-only fools and horses
Did everybody leave when you turned up
beer was cold, i had heineken, they had stella, guiness few euro type beers i think, menu looked pretty good too, small and fair prices, usual irish pub grub.
met the manageress, nice lady, and irish, well worth poppin in for a cold one
its here on soi 71, right on the corner of soi 2, so is well within walking distance of the ekamai bts station
That's the sister pub to Fresh Prince's The Roadhouse and he works there sometimes.
Had a nice evening in there myself and had a braised beef meal which was out of this world. Apparently an Irish husband and wife team have been employed as head chefs and will train the Thais for 1 year. Nice bar and some nicer eye candy walking by.
Good one Sunny!
haha mr dog, it was a little bit empty, the owner was in there with friends, and few moody europeans, but the staff were friendly enough
cheers LT, ill have to catch the fp there soon then, bloody nice place, ekamai needs a place like this not many pubs around there, within spitting distance from the bus station and bts, few thai style places etc
When I was there the Pub had not even officially opened yet and the 2nd and 3rd floors have to be completed. Even then the downstairs bar was 3/4's full and I predict a great future for this pisser.Originally Posted by dirtydog
I believe it will officially open within this month and FP I am looking forward to a formal invitation!

When I was there that front open air setting area was full of fairly young looking farang women and Princey and I had to sit right at the end near the carpark. I hope they get that sorted out real soon.
Thats another plus for this bar as they seem to have arranged heaps of off street parking.
Sunny mate, Please enlighten me as I lived in Ekkamai Soi 2 for near 10 yrs but when I was living there is was known as Sukumvit 63/2 and Soi 71 was known as Onnut.
Did they change all the main Road numbers or were you a bit befuddled due to over imbibing or am I just a doddery old crunt not able to remember 5 years back?
There can’t be good living where there is not good drinking
^
Strange that.
When I lived in Onnut it was Soi 77, and Phrakanong was Soi 71.
Can't be too far from the TD beer garten ?
Is there anything that sets it apart from the myriad of Irish pubs out there?
Painting everything green and using some oldey-worldey celtic type font hardly makes it unique. The Stella and Heineken signs don't exactly scream Oirish either..
I would question the location as it is a bit secluded from anything else nightlife wise. What punters are their target?
At first I thought it may be the before club Thai crowd of Ekamai but there again all those bars/clubs are right at the other end and not sure they would be interested in a 'not another' Irish theme pub.
Not intending to criticise just interested in the business plan
Ps. I did pass it in a taxi last Saturday around 10.30pm and it seemed empty but maybe it is not fully open yet from the original posters comments.
Ye if you're living around On Nut then it's GREAT. Fuk all down there before.
^the rent is a million baht per month? Could I keep the balance
There aren't really any pubs yet in that area but there are quite a few condo's and office buildings around there. There's also that new shopping mall, Park Lane, being constructed opposite which will also serve as a cut through to the next soi. Also there's another local expat favorite opening across the street which means more people in the area.Originally Posted by ossies

The food. They are going for a classier menu than your average Irish pub. As mentioned both the chefs have been brought over from Ireland to set the place up, both are excellent chefs. They want to keep a few pub favorites on the menu but a lot of the dishes will be a bit more special. The full menu isn't finished yet, we are working on that so for now there is a small menu with plenty of specials on. Very reasonably priced as well.Originally Posted by slackula
If you go to the website there's a page where you can download a 50% off food voucher. All TD'ers welcome to download and print it as many times as you like. I cant post a link coz I'll get in trouble with DD.
Sounds good, I might have lunch there sometime next week.Originally Posted by The Fresh Prince
