I thought of opening a Scottish themed bar, problem was I could only get those funsize Mars bars which just disintegrate when you deep fry them and you can't get Buckfast imported. Another millionaire idea thwarted
Thats excatly the same furnishing as the Roadhouse
Thats because he borrowed my tables until his get made.
You're all wrong. Sukhumvit 71 is Soi Pridi.
Ekkamai is Soi 63.
Thong Lor is Soi 55.
On Nut is Soi 77.
I lived on Sukhumvit 71 for 10+ years. Phra Khanong is the intersection where Soi 71 meets the main Sukhumvit road. At the other end where it meets Petchburi Road it is called Khlong Tan.

Absolutely not, it's a legitimate business. But thanks for bringing it up because its something that I've always wanted to clarify. Neither me or my bosses are connected in any way to those guys. They hate us. When I started work at the other Irish pub, I had no idea what they were doing behind the scenes and when I found out I wanted nothing to do with it. My boss separated from them back in 2006 to start the Roadhouse because he didn't want anything to do with that either and thankfully he took me with him.Originally Posted by klongmaster
Nelly's is also a separate company from the Roadhouse. It doesn't share any of the company registration. It's simply one of the owners setting up his own place with his family. My only involvement is that I do freelance graphics, web and advertising for them.
It's the answer that I hoped for of course...but nice to have it stated so clearly...Originally Posted by The Fresh Prince

I'll cheers to that!
Drove past this place on the way home on Sat night. Looks very nice from the outside and just been on the website (looks good The Fresh Prince). The website is not compete yet, but the food menu looks nice with a 50% off coupon for food for those who are thrifty like me! The drinks menu is not up and running yet, so could anyone give Teakddor the lowdown on price/ happy hours/ promotions (sunsetter/ The Fresh Prince?) that are going on?
I'm usually down that way once or twice a week and look forward to sampling their wares.
Black diamonds? I shit 'em.
Ah, just what Bangers needs.
Another faux Irish pub selling indifferent local brewed beer at international prices occasionally reduced to pack punters in for a frenzied discount booze session before they melt away into the night whereupon the house lies forlornly empty until the klunk of closing time.
Good food is always a bonus though and if sensibly priced it may succeed but handing it over to the Thai generally means it'll turn to shit unless management are omnipresent to supervise.
Still, its location is good and should benefit from the developing demographic promoted by the BTS extension et al.
I'll get back to you later with some beer prices, I've got to put them on the website in the next couple of days.Originally Posted by Bogon

FP, point taken but it takes rather more than an Irish owner, Celtic calligraphy, hippity - jippity - skippity music and a dollop of champ on the menu to make an Oirish bar. In fact, I don't think there is such a thing except in the minds of others who aren't from the Emerald Isle or those who would wish to capitalise upon what is really just a marketing ploy.
To me the epitome of an Irish bar is the Crown in Belfast opposite the Europa hotel. Frankly, if memory serves me well, there is nothing overtly Hibernian about the place save for the fact it's in Ireland and generally packed with Irish punters slaking prodigious thirsts with gallons of the best stout in the world served by the best Irish barmen in the world.

^ its not in belfast, its in bangkok, if it wasnt advertised as an irish bar, with all the trimmings what would it be? just another bar that would probably fail, like your hoping this one does,or it could be an english pub with what? a pool table? serving stella, tetlys, and oh not guiness surely?
marketing ploy or not i hope the place has it right off, and bollox to all the people that say stuff like you do, go to belfast and drink your guiness you cynical pratt
ketamine-only fools and horses
Ahh, so it stands more chance of success because " it's Irish " rather than being a nondescript falang bar selling precisely the same beers as all others, the same food and hosting the same ubiquitous falang clientele?
If you say so, dear boy, but I wouldn't bet on it.
Actually, any decent bar in this location may well succeed if only because it has little or no competition. Provided they get their pricing right and the landlord actively contributes to the ambience engaging his patrons ( and isn't an idiot ) they stand as good a chance as anyone else and I wish them the very best.
Quite why you should deduce cynicism on my part from my post is beyond me but then addled comments from the frazzled is nothing new, I suppose.
addled my arse, i couldnt care less, go sip your pimms in the shade
