    Housekeeping service in Bangkok?

I'm looking for a part time trustworthy housekeeping service or individual. Not a live in maid, just someone to come by every few days to tidy up. Google turns up a few results but they seem to cater to corporate clients. Anyone have any recommendations on a company or know someone in the Thonglor area who'd like to make a few extra baht every month? Thanks.

I've asked around with no luck so far. If I had time to frequent a local bar or restaurant I wouldn't need a housekeeper I've asked a few friends and family if their live-in maids want come to my place a few times a week for some extra money but everyone seems strangely protective over their staff and don't want them leaving.

Thanks for the good suggestions guys and if it were just me I'd fling open the door and have the first person I find come by do it. However, the missus is against the idea of getting some random person through an ad or whatever.

So I'm hoping I can get in contact with someone who has actually used the services of whomever they can recommend. Hopefully I can then convince her that "my good buddy from teakdoor says so-and-so is a great housekeeper who never steals anything" and she'll go for it.

If you find one Timber let me know. I live a few streets up from you and could have her the days your not using her.

^umm...I thought thats what I was doing ?Would've posted in classifieds but don't think that people can respond and share experiences there. Hopefully we can generate some helpful info on this thread.

^^Will do FP. I'm surprised there isn't a well known service for this available here.

I've been through a load of maids. They always end up being unreliable.

Havn't had one before but a busy new work schedule means no days off to deep clean for some time to come. I did get in touch with one a few weeks back but have since been unable to get ahold of her so I suppose I'm running into the same problem.

You are doing the right things Timba by asking around the expats just make sure you ask all the staff at your restaurant and perhaps some of your better known customers.

Hey Timber, my friend has got a very good house maid, lovely lady, and he lives at soi 59 so perhaps she'll do for you too as I believe she is local. He's always leaving cash lying around and got a lot of valuables in the place and never had anything go missing and she's been with him for a year already.

She does a few other places in the area also, all on recommendations from this one friend of mine and everyone is happy with her work.

I will get her details if u like?

Problem here is mostly maid service ads. My experience with them has been dismal.

I had a maid that I posted about of this type, but Memok and EN and KM raised hell about it so it was removed,, but it worked well for me in CM about 10 years ago before I got married and moved down here.My last trip to CM, I had a girl waitress from a cafe I ate in come by for a few extra baht a month, and a friends wife that I met in a guest house years ago used to come by and do the cleaning on ocassion, this was some years after she married my friend.
I never had to hang around bars either and has been 28 years since my last drink.
I have had a few cleaners since and had no trouble with thieves,, so maybe birds of a feather does hold true.

Alternatively, the manager's wife of an apartment block I used to live in did a great job and was trustworthy. Not sure she would be available though, as she was always busy. PM me for more details.

Maybe it is not the random person which is the problem. She probably has read the "maid with a benefit" thread.

These high felooting young whippersnappers with their penthouses in the sky maids and driving Beamers around. Back when I was a youngin' I cleaned by sleeping room with a toothbrush on my hands and knees blah, blah, blah .................

Good luck finding a good one Timber. I had one that we paid 5k a month plus room and board. She was one of the hardest worker I have ever met. One time our gardener failed to show up in a timely manner and the grass was getting a bit high. I caught her on her hands and knees trimming the grass with a pair of ordinary scissors. She kept my house immaculate and work so hard we often had to tell her to take a break. She always returned any money she found in my laundry if it was 1 baht or 1,000 baht.

One of my friends was visiting Thailand and ended up marrying her and now she keeps his house spotless in Joliet Illinois. Our loss his gain.

No luck yet but some good leads. I'm going to contact the service Marmite posted the link for. They have good rates and info on their site so we'll see how it goes. Now I just have to convince the missus.

So one lesson learned, if any guests from oversea, you better tell your maid to have a few days off or you will have to look for a new one.
