Yea, run a search on the subject..
K Bank offers the service at some locations for their very best customers. They have locations in the Phahonyothin Branch, Sukumvit at Pacific Place and Lad Prao 92. SCB also has a facility at SCB Plaza. Many banks have waiting lists but you may have luck acquiring them at K Bank because they are in the process of building new safe deposit facilities at many of their branches.
I was on a waiting list at Bangkok Bank (Silom the head office) and never could get one (the size I wanted). While waiting I went to private company, a place that rented boxes close to Bangkok Bank near the Silom head office. Kept the box for about two years. It was pricy (yearly fee) but worth it at the time.
I still never felt safe keeping things in the private box,…it just isn’t the same (as in a bank).
Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.
In the Jewelry Building on Silom there are private companies with safety deposit box services but ,as mentioned, they do not have anything like the security that a bank has.
Found these, will give them a try tomorrow.
..::: SIAM CITY BANK Public Company Limited. :::..
Fee
I was informed by a friend last night that Group4 have safety deposit boxes for rent in Union Insurance building (Surawongse). I was told the cost is around 4-5K THB per annum for a mailbox sized unit.
I looked around online and couldn't see anything about it on G4S website, still you can give them a call - 02 635 2181
^ thanks, we have one with Siam City Bank now.
She has a lot of gold that is now safely locked away instead of in her knicker drawer.
We were told by the bank that they do not insure any of the valuables that are kept with them in these boxes, which I thought was typically Thai.
Give your valuables to us for safekeeping but if we lose them we're not liable.
What's the fookin' point then!?Originally Posted by Beadle
Items kept in a safety deposit box are private. The bank has no record of what the owner keeps in his/her box. It would be impossible for the bank to be held responsible without a record of assets. Bank security deposit facilities are double protected by an outer vault and a key and code system that makes it impossible for anyone except the owner to access the box. This is sop anywhere in the world.
