    bars, pubs

    hello all
im currently residing in the ramkhamhaeng rd area, and as its my first long time stay in the city, i would like to find a nice local,a preferable 15-30 mins away, which gives me ekamai and lad prao as a limit, but i suppose anywheres ok, any ideas? footy games and cold beer a must
    ketamine-only fools and horses

Having the Rama 9 Tollway on your doorstep makes the whole of Bangkok 15 minutes~2 hours away depending on the traffic.

We have a house on Soi Onnut and still have to travel into the known farang areas around Sukhumvit to catch the international TV sports coverage.

I like "The Office" bar in Soi 33 to watch the sports but there are many other cheaper places to drink in and around Soi 4 and upper Sukhumvit.

The problem is, when a bar has only one channel/ TV you always get into an argument over which sports to put on and as Bob has about 15 TV's you can always watch your favourite sport no matter what at "The Office".

The eye candy is also handy particularly when your team is losing!

Go onto Ramkhamheang soi 24 and behind the stadium you'll find ABAC university. One of the sois down there has a few decent pubs which usually show the footy games. Cheap drinks, lots of eye candy

Depends what sort of footy he means... If English soccer is your thing then ues, if he means Gods games that they play downunder then best to head to soi 33 et al

The office is a great spot during the day, but saturday evenings they turn the music on instead of the sound for the footy

The Robin Hood, O'Reilly's and Hanrahan's should all be firebombed.

Try Shadow Bar on Soi Cowboy. Always has the football on and you can fend off the requests for lady drinks as well.

Also on Soi 23 is [at]Corner 23 (Tiger's Bar) - Tiger is a good bloke.

About the only good thing that I have to say about the Robin Hood is the happy hour prices.

Asides from that it is a soulless, plastic chain branch and the manager is such an ignorant [at][at][at][at] that I amazed that he is working in the hospitality industry at all.

There's probably hundreds of restaurants called Sawadee Cup because the name is so original.

Don't bother looking on Ladprao. I live out there and it's pretty dead unless you like karaokes and Thai joints. Head up to Sukhumvit either near the Emporium or Nana and you will find many places that fit your criteria.
