BANGKOK METROPOLITAN ADMINISTRATION / SLOGAN FIASCO
City of Life tagline belongs to Hong Kong
SUPOJ WANCHAROEN
The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration needs to change its English slogan, ''City of Life,'' as it is the same as the one used by Hong Kong last year.
Bangkok Deputy Governor Putthipong Punnakan said yesterday that the catchy slogan was thought up to use in the development plan to raise Bangkok's profile as a sustained and livable capital under the initiative introduced by Governor Apirak Kosayodhin.
Mr Putthipong stood firm that the BMA did not copy the tagline copyrighted by Hong Kong in 2005.
When the office learned of the resemblance from Internet-based information, it promptly considered adjusting its English slogan to prevent any breach of copyright, he added.
A possible substitute might be ''Bangkok _ Harmony of Life'' accompanied by the logo of four-coloured petals symbolising effective resolution of city problems. He said the slogan would also be used to commemorate the third year of Mr Apirak's administration and publicise the Bangkok Brand event to be held at Siam Paragon today.
