Anyone done this trip recently? I know I can take a taxi, but wonder if there is some sort of direct shuttle bus from the airport to the bus station.

As for the taxi, what is the approximate fare?

I'll have two medium sized pieces of luggage, so don't want to take the public bus.

there are two buses from the new airport to the old airport - as many airport workers still live around Don Muang. They must be passing by Morchit. 35 baht.

arrived the other day - got the shuttle bus to nearby bus station , then a local bus to the On Nut area and then a taxi.

is there an easier way without using a taxi?

I took a taxi to Mor Chit. Fare on the meter was about 220 baht. Toll-way was 65 baht. Airport surcharge is 50 baht.

This compares with 45 baht for the minibus from Don Muang to Suvarnabhumi. Yeah, the taxi is cheap, but when you're a fixed income retired geezer like me, every satang counts.

point being that the costs soon mount up if you take taxis all the time - even more so if you are either going to or from the KSR area as most drivers won't put the meter on.

I have caught taxis to ksr at least 20 times over the past few years and never once have I had a problem. Sometimes they try to negoatiate - i just politely ask them to turn there metre on and they always do.

Why not? It's not rocket science, you get him, tell him where you want to go and if he does not turn on the meter you tell him to turn it on.
