    Hiring a car in Bangkok

    Hi all

In about 4 weeks time I will need to hire a car in Bangkok. Preferable a 4wd to go to chon buri then onto ubon ratchatani back to korat and then back to Bangkok.

5 adults and one infant. I will need a baby seat.

    Any suggestions where?

I have always used Budget in the past and collected from and delivered back to the airport.

Not sure about a baby seat option but the cars have always been in good condition - at least until we got hold of them.

Don't think you will have much luck with the baby seat, best to bring yer own. The guy who runs expat rentals ? seems to be quite helpful, I dunno how many cars he has available tho. If you need I can ring around for you and see what the best deal may be.
With 5 adults and a baby seat you would be better of with a Van type thing, the baby seat takes up half the back seat which will barely leave room for two adults in the back, its a squeeze I know from xperience.

Last time we rented a Toyota Wish which can fit quite a few in - upto 7 probably depending on luggage and fatness - they said we could have a baby seat, but we didn't bother - I think that was with Budget from the airport - no problems, but pricy - over 2,000 baht a day I think!

I think we had some problems getting it as it is subject to avialability and most places it wasn't available - in the end we went with who had it - i just can't remember who that was - office on Wireless Road, near the embassy...

AO - that is a great idea and may just come in handy as I didn't really want to lug one all the way from here. Ariya will be 8 months old - is that ok?

This is all still in the planning stage. As of ysterday we were all going to fly to ubon and just hire a car from there which I have done before but that changed today with this trip to chonburi. I figured that after driving from bkk to chonburi I might as well just travel onto towards ubon instead of back into the city/airport/flying/2hr drive from ubon etc. The other option that might happen is 2 of the adults fly home and the rest of us to the drive which would be fine in a smaller car.

Nick A that car would be perfect for all of us. Will have to wait and see if all of us will be driving.

Peterpan do you have a link to expat rentals?

Haha I don't think I will be heading down that way - might just throw rocks on his roof at 11am to wake him up.

MM: Budget are good but they don't have a counter at the airport...Thai Mafia don't allow it...their counter is in the Amari Airport Hotel...BUT they do free delivery and pick-up from your hotel or home and complete all the paper work there which is real convenient...

Avis are a bit restrictive as to where you can go...

Hatch is your man from Q Cars - a welshman held in high regard by those of us fortunate enough to be considered his friends - but I think he only does long-term lease not short term rentals...

that said, he would be my first choice simply because he's just one of the guys running a small business, rather than putting money into the corporate machine of Avis, Hertz or Budget

hope we can catch up this trip

I am quite often awake before 11am actually, some of us do have to work for a living you know, from Monday my staff will be working till 11pm every night for a few weeks, this creates a lot more work for me from ordering enough materials to working out how much we charge and also wages bill, infact tomorrow I am thinking of getting up at 10am, and tomorrow is a bloody Sunday, you just don't understand what it is to work for a living....

^Sounds like you're not so much a builder as an Administrator - can't you get a nice young Thai girl to do that sort of thing and more....

thats the money side of things Nick, aint no Thai I can trust on that, Hell, I got me foreman sticthing me up for about 1,000baht per month on fake petrol bills, and the cnut had the front to ask for a wage increase a couple of weeks ago, as for women, I think by the time I understand them I will be too old for sex anyway, it's not like they are real human beings anyway, I take my galfriend to a short time bar and shag a couple of gals while she watches and she tips them, I come home with lipstick on my Tshirt and she does her nut, foking weird things these women.

Fucking hell mate, I understand women better than you - I'd flip my nut if you did that - lipstick is such a persistant stain, it'll take ages to get that out - not as bad as semen though - so next time she comes home with cum all over her blouse, give her a slap from me!

There is a car company 69 or something similar big international one has showroom on rama 4 and sathorn road/wireless road junction

If you are going to Chonburi you can always stop here on the way back look at Wat Sathorn and eat some food with me.
