^Skytrain?

The opening of the high-speed rail link between Suvarnabhumi Airport and inner Bangkok, scheduled for December 5, could be further delayed following this week's strike by railroad workers.

(Railway link to Suvarnabhumi airport construction deadline to be decided)http://teakdoor.com/thailand-and-asia-news/17210-railway-link-suvarnabhumi-airport-construction-deadline.html

Soon you'll have the option of the airport link too at Suvarabhumi. Heard it'll cost 150 Baht a person though - it'll be taxi every time for me if that's the case (unless arriving alone and with not much luggage).

Could be useful for getting to the airport though if going alone to meet someone arriving. And will be good for people living along the line to get to/from town.

Every taxi I've been in around Bangkok sounds as if it has a wheel-bearing gone at above 140kph.

There is an air-conditioned coach service that runs from the airport to Pattaya and drops you off at your Hotel. It operates from AIRPORT LEVEL 1 DOOR 7 and departs at the following times...0800,1000,1200,1400,1600,1800. The one-way fare is only 200 baht.

To book your return journey the company has 2 phone numbers 038-370-055-6 and 02-747-4673. They advise you to book at least 24 hours in advance and they will pick you up from your hotel. Departure times from Pattaya are as follows...0600,0900,1100,1300,1500,1700,1900.

this is a really good service and the transfer time is 1.5 to 2 hours. Hope this is useful information for someone travelling soon.

Not that I ever have or ever will go to Pattaya - but that is a great service and would save most visitors over 1,000 baht each way. Thanks for sharing the info.

If you fly in regularly don't be so cheap, find a taxi driver you like and give him a little extra. I have been using the same driver for years I can trust him 100%. We have become friends and he has helping me a few times when I was in a bind. His family is very close now with my family and we have a babysitter anytime we need in Bangkok. His wife even stayed with my sister-in-law in hospital when her son was sick. All that for paying 200 baht above meter, worth every penny IMHO. Not to mention he waits inside for me and takes my bags as soon as I'm through arrivals.

Don't know about Bangkok but in Phuket the taxi fares are on a 'sliding scale' !

You are assaulted by a bloody herd of mini bus, Limo & private drivers out to make a Baht or so from unsuspecting tourists arriving .

I have been quoted from 600 - 1400 baht to my place in Chalong ( 35 km)

Due to the 'taxi mafia' meter cabs are banished to an out of the way place but they always use the meter , are clean - well maintained - and safe( by Thai standards).

500 baht
If it is a late night arrival a tip is always appreciated but not expected .
never had a problem .

Come out of departures - turn right - go right down to the end of the building - the office is there .

I'd certainly take more trips if I lived in Bangkok, such a cinch is transportation to and from the airport. I've been noticing some really good domestic airfares lately...sigh.

What does charity have to do with it? See how charitable the taxi driver is when there are more people than cabs.

Supply and demand, shit 200 is generous

Take a tip Frank ,sit in the front if your alone and be prepared to grab the steering wheel from the driver if you aint 100% sure where he is taking you .

Back in my single days when I travelled alone I had to do this on 2 occasions ,, one time I had to grab one of the fukkrs and threaten to hurt him , when he realised I wernt to be fukd with he took me to Moorchit dropped me off and accelerated away before I could pay the poor fellow !!!!!
