    Hotels/Apartments - Pattaya/Bangkok

I came to Thailand before and stayed in Phuket. I am planning a 6-week trip, but have been reccommended Pattaya or Bangkok. Which is best for nightlife/girls etc and would it be better to stay in a hotel or apartment?

Do hotels do like a discounted rate for a long term stay?

Which areas do people reckon are best? Patpong seems to be quite infamous - any hotel/apartment reccommendations around there?

Thanks - and by the way for those with 700,000+ posts that want to just flame me - dont bother.

hmmm, depends, do you like to slum it when you're whoring or pose as a high flier?

pattaya has beaches, might be better.

yes, you can get monthly rentals, but not at a huge discount.

I will recommend this hotel in Bangkok as it is located in one of the best bar streets in Thailand and is close to the elevated Sky train which will allow you to move about and not have to hassle with the infamous Bangkok traffic.

The rooms are big and clean and the price I pay is 1100 Baht per night.

Maybe long term you can achieve a better rate!

Regarding Pattaya there are many fine hotels in and around beach road but not knowing your budget it is a little difficult to recommend a place for you.

Good luck and enjoy your holiday!

^Thank you for that. I had budgeted on 20 quid a night, so this seems OK. Is Pattaya better or worse than Bangkok though? For the normal - birds, booze and bonking.

There is a place in sukhumvit soi 4 called rajah mansion which used to cost 11000bt a month clean rooms and near all the nightlife just check their website for the cost now.

Pattaya is generally cheaper than bangkok for many things why not spend time in both places.

    Largely horses for courses mate!

Pattaya is a great place if you know where to go and keep clear of the scum inhabited areas, the bars can range from tacky to up market and there is always the chance to escape and drive down the coast to more rural out-of-the-way bars and beaches.

I would suggest you rent a bike or better still a car when you are in Pattaya so you can venture outside the inner Pattaya area during daylight hours.

In Bangkok my favourite places are Soi 33, which is the same street where you will find the hotel I suggested, Soi Cowboy which is a 10 minute walk from Soi 33 and a few of the bars in and around Silom one being the Roadhouse which is managed by a Teak Door member.

If you need some support regarding hotels and or bike/ car rentals in Pattaya just PM me.

    ^No doners there for sure.

Well it seems that you know where to buy the doner kebabs here in Bangkok already so I will skip that advice.

^^Thanks - I think I will try Bangkok first and check out Soi Cowboy and Soi 33. How far is it from Nana - I spent most of my last trip there!

Well I dont now what you mean about the doners cos I stayed on Nana before going to Phuket and went in that place and their were no doners.

Anyway booked a superior room at the place for 1400 Bath and it looks nice

Thanks for the heads-up and hopefully it will be OK when I get their next week. By the way do you have to pay a joiners fee like I was charged in Phuket or was this just a Phuket thing?

I would not waste my time in Bangkok if you're interested in nightlife and girls, this is the purpose of Pattaya, it has everything you want from freelancers to upscale girls at half the prices of Bangkok and the girls attitudes are much much better, Bangkok is a rip. Here is a link to a guest house on LK Metro 5 minutes from the beach and has everything you need in location, quality rooms, and good prices, 3 gogo bars in the area and Club Blu coyote bar next door (I have no finanacial interest in the guesthouse but the owner is a freind and I built his site):

I hope you did it for free, the colors are user unfriendly, specially on the rate page, few mistakes like "send deposit by paypay"

Room rates page doesn't display correctly in firefox, this text "Prices include electric and water and free Wifi internet or use computers in common area"
starts on the right column and continues underneath the graph.
Also no link to go back to home page, no uniformity through out the site, ie buttons in different places on each page, also 40 meter room should have square meters? and the prices are per day, shouldn't that be per night?

That place was called something else when I stayed there a year or so ago. If it is the same place it's had one hell of a refit! Watch out for that croc thing though - scares the shit out of you if you're not expecting it!

The rooms at that armaggedon place seem nice for those prices. I didn't have a problem with the website, the occasional typo isn't that big a deal :P
