    Accommodation near Fortune Town

I'll be in Bangkok Saturday and was planning to do some shopping at Fortune Town.

I feel like crap at the moment with a high fever (39+) and sore throat so unless a miracle should occur I probably won't be up for doing much else, and would also like to stay at a place where it's as convenient/close to get to Fortune Town as possible.

    Any ideas?

Fortune town is right at the Rama 9 subway station. Easy to get there from any BTS or MRT stop so you can stay anywhere close to a skytrain ot subway station.

There is a hotel right at Fortune Town, Grand Mercure Fortune which is just slightly above your price bracket. Else you could try the Grand Ayudhaya.

Siam Beverly (now called Cha Da) is only about 1200 baht a night if booked over the internet, but they have a bit of renovations work going on at the moment.

    Cheers again.

I ended up at the Calypzo on advice from a friend. It's a very recently constructed hotel right next to the Emerald, close to Huay Khwang MRT station. They currently have a 1,000 baht per night promotion campaign which I thought was good value.

The place itself is a solid 3 star: very clean, nice staff (if a bit inexperienced, looks like some of them just graduated from hotel college), no funny smells, overall the quality of the construction work looked better than average (tiling in the bathroom etc.).

The room I got would be a bit on the small side for a weekend with the missus, but suited me perfectly.

The only real gripe I have with them is that their breakfast delivery system failed (you are supposed to tick the boxes on a sheet to indicate what type of breakfast you would like, and at what time you want it delivered) - nobody picked up the sheet I had hung outside the door so I ended up having breakfast outside instead. Made a complaint so perhaps they'll fix it.

That's bloody good. Very new hotel right on the soi that runs next to the Emerald, right? Think it might be the old "Mirage" ... which was massage joint. If so, no wonder the tiling in the bathroom was better than most places .

^That's the one. Dwarfed (at least in size) by the Emerald a stone's throw to the right.

Customer satisfaction questionnaires are starting to appear in LOS. I wonder how many more years it'll take for them to start being read by the staff
