New Airport & Close by Reasonable Hotels?

First: How is the new Airport...is there a food court like the old international airport....can you take the train from there to the northern train station like from the old international airport.......how much farther north is it from the old international airport....... and is there still a free shuttle to the domestic airport?

Second: Any reasonable hotels / nice guest houses anyone can recommend near the new airport?

    Thanks All !

dunno. they are building a skytrain out to there, dunno if it is finished yet or not.

    They do have taxis.

erm, it aint North at all, aint anywhere near the old airport, i think that was the point.

its towards pattaya, slightly east of the city rather than north.

supposed to be. might depend on your airline. eg: thai airways might use it, low cost airlines perhaps not.

not really, aint much out there, it was built in a swamp you know. best to go into town. or down to pattaya.

    > is there a food court like the old international airport.

There's tons of pricey and so-so restaurants but also a cheap food court with regular prices. It's all the way on the ground floor (2 floors down from where you arrive) and ALL the way on the East-most end of the building (so that's the International side).

There's no real reason to stay near to there; takes about 30 minutes to go into town by taxi, then you have a much bigger/better choice of hotels and guesthouses.

Rail link is under construction, but could easily take another year before it's operational.

The Novotel at Suwarnabhumi is an excellent hotel. Nicest bed I have ever had in a hotel.

New Airport & Closeby Reasonable Hotels

It is good to hear there is still a food court, nice!

The reason I would want to stay close by was an arrival at 12:30 am and wanting to fly out first thing in the morning. I have slept, or tried to, in the airport before but not this time.

The Novotel at Suwarnabhumi would be nice, but was thinking of something a little less than 5297 baht a night.

New Airport & Closeby Reasonable Hotels

It looks like it has gone up about 150 baht. It seems in the same range as a couple of other hotels in the area w/free pick ups. Would probably chose it over another non recommended. Thanks........

The food court inside is insanely expensive - we're talking 200 baht for a bowl of soup.

The skytrain to/from the airport isn't finished yet - expect at least another year, probably 2.

Why you think it further North? It is 40kms East of central Bangkok and South East of the old airport located north of Bangkok.

With you refusing to pay a decent sum. Best try to sleep at airport. many others are doing it daily.

Not the one on the ground floor near where the buses leave for Silom, Sukumvit, and Khao Sarn. Standard prices say 20 to 30 baht a plate. Ate their after getting back from KL on Air Asia. 200 baht covered meals for 4, drinks and ice cream for the kids.
