Recommendations for day trips from Bangkok

So, can anyone recommend a day trip from Bangkok? Maybe a 1 or 1 1/2 hour drive.
    Not Ayutthaya though.
Are there any beaches or fishing villages within easy reach of Bangkok?

    Under 2 hours:

Lopburi is fun especially during the sunflower festival.
    Kanchanaburi. River Kwai.
    Khao Yai National Park.

I always go Kanchanaburi myself, nice bungalow on the river, with a good book. Some nice restaurants around that way too.
